Your favourite album of 2010

Fulham Road Lights

Ill-adjusted
My, this year has really outdone itself in terms of how much great music has been made. My favourite album is probably 'High Violet' by the National, but 'Grinderman 2' is a very close second. What about you?

Am I allowed to say the Bona Drag Reissue? That was the only album I have bothered to play, which has been released this year...I'm sad, I know

It's a close call between three in particular. All three artists I've seen and they have all been superb in their own quirky little ways.

Naturally, any Belle and Sebastian album always gets that big boost as there isn't a single album that ever fails. And after seeing them at the Apollo for the second time my love grew a thousand times more for them than the thousand times it have grown before. So it would probably be 'Write About Love', however Pantha du Prince's 'Black Noise' is outstanding and I truly believe it's something for everybody to consider listening to, regardless of your love or non-existent love of electro/ambient music.

Hard choice, but Write about Love. Sarah Martin makes a top notch contribution to so many tunes on B&S's ninth album. So yeah, Write About Love it is.

Joanna Newsom - Have On On Me
Imelda May - Mayhem
Lonelady - Nerve Up
The Tiger Lillies - Cockatoo Prison
The Fall - Your Future, Our Clutter
Caro Emerald - Deleted Scenes From The Cutting Room Floor
The Divine Comedy - Bang Goes The Knighthood

Fleshtone- Kelis
Aphrodite- Kylie Minogue

I don't really listen to new music or releases except for pop music releases.

Gil Scott-Heron - I'm New Here

My Top 10:

Drums "The Drums"
Foals "Total Life Forever"
Arcade Fire "The Suburbs"
Frightened Rabbit "The Winter of Mixed Drinks"
Broken Records "Let Me Come Home"
Hurts "Happiness"
Unwinding Hours "The Unwinding Hours"
John Grant "Queen Of Denmark"
National "High Violet"
Lloyd Cole "Broken Records"

These end of year lists always make me feel so lame as I realise how out of step I am with music. So the only alnums I bought in 2010:

Arcade Fire - 'The Suburbs'
Belle & Sebastian - 'Write About Love'
Sia - We Are Born
Betty and the Werewolves
Bona Drag reissue

You're not alone. This is all I bought:

B.R.M.C. - Beat The Devil's Tattoo
Arcade Fire - The Suburbs
The National - High Violet
Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine reissue

And I may be getting Brian Eno's new album for Christmas.

I've really enjoyed Gold Panda's 'Lucky Shiner' release. The album is far better than his live work.

Here's hoping that The Maccabees release a new album in 2011.

Favourite albums of 2010

1. IDA MARIA - KATLA (Norwegian Only release - so far). Waterfall Records.

2. GIRL IN A COMA - ADVENTURES IN COVERLAND. Blackheart Records.

3. POWER OF DREAMS - IMMIGRANTS, EMIGRANTS AND ME (10TH Anniversary Re-Release). Lemon Records.

OK, so re-issues don't count, so I ignored those
and a lot of these I completely did not recognize
the National one is pretty good, I'd like to hear it again :thumb:
and I had no idea there was a new Ida Maria album!
I've been in lubs with her since seeing them @ Coachella in 09
