Tamo Daleko

Tamo daleko daleko kraj mora
Tamo je selo moje, tamo je Srbija

Tamo daleko, gde cveta limun zut
Tamo je srpskoj vojsci jedini bio put

Oh, zar je morala doc, ta tuzna nesrecna noc
Kada si dragane moj, otis'o u krvav boj

Tamo daleko, gde cveta beli krim
Tamo su zivote dali zajedno otac i sin

Bez otadzbine, na Krfu lezim ja
I zato s ponosom klicem, zivela Srbija

Yes it is called Tamo Daleko (There Far Away),
Here's description I found on english

Traditional, Unknown Soldier.
This is a famous song sung by Serbian soldiers after their
retreat to Greece upon the destruction of Serbia by Axis
powers in the First World War. The song symbolizes
soldiers' concern for loved ones, nostalgia, and resolve
to liberate their fatherland.

There Far Away

There far away, far away near the sea
There is a village of mine, there is Serbia

There far away, where yellow lemon grows
There was for Serbian army the only way out

Oh, why did it have to come, that sad, unfortunate night
When you my dear, went to the bloody fight

There far away, where the white lily grows
There the lives have sacrificed together father and son

Without motherland, on Corfu I lie
And that is why with pride I heil long live Serbia

the fact is that it doesn't catchs up with the lyrics you provide

it starts with something like

inem i alexi ume jisakatepsi
inem i alexi upandur makuluji
ke musikai ******* di proi...

Then it is probably Goran Bregovic's cover with some greek singer.

Ine mia leksi pu me ehi sakatepsi
ine mia leksi pu pandu m'akoluthi
ke mu zitai logariasmo vradi proi
"giati", den ti thelo allo pia tin eho barethi

Kalanta ke trigona

mes to thimo butigmeno s'ena pelorio giati
psithiras ke kravgi pligi pu emoragi
kath stigmi sti zoi mu ena megalo giati

Dio tria onira pu ihan apomini
bikan enehiro ke miname tapi
o tokoglifos tha mas stili filaki

ENGLISH TRANSLATION

There is a word that has crippled me,
a word that follows me everywhere
and asks me for answers morning and night,
"why", I don't want it anymore, I'm bored of it.

Carols and triangles,
each Christmas I remember a child
plunged in anger, in a huge why.
Whisper and scream, a wound that is bleeding.
Every moment of my life a great why.

Two three dreams that remained
have been in pawn and we are left broke.
The usurer will send us to jail,
Eleni, you have taken all of us in your back

Are you familiar with Zabranjeno Pusenje? Similar to Bregovic, only they make more fun out of their music. Quite hilarious guys, actually.

You're gonna confuse him, the name of the band is Emir Kusturica and No Smoking Orchestra or just No Smoking Orchestra. Zabranjeno Pusenje was '80's rock bend from Sarajevo, which two memebers now play in No Smoking... but it's not rock anymore, it's world music.

The only non-English speaking albums I own are

Gorkys Zygotic Mynci - Tatay (altho some is in English)
Super Furres - Mwng (brilliant album)
MC Solaar - Cinquieme As (French rapper-good stuff)

I am actually a she, but thanks for clearing it up. I think I have some songs of Emir Kusturica, but "No smoking orchestra" doesn't ring any bells to me.
I prefer traditional balkan music. Can you recommend any other bands that play that kind of music?

The songs of Emir Kusturica are likely to be No Smoking Orchestra's, but they could also be soundtrack from one of his movies.

-Sorry I don' listen traditional balkan music, so I can't recommed it.

PS there is one guy from Skoplje, his name is Kiril Dzajkovski, he makes interesting electro music with traditional motives, you can check him out here

really into the whole spanish rock scene of the late 80's, early through mid 90s:

Mana
La Ley
Heroes Del Silencio
Los Prisioneros
Los Enanitos Verdes.. ect.

used to like Shakira back when she was a real musician:

the woman's an exellent song writer and i hate to say it but she sold out. now she's an over-rated pop sensation and i'm pretty damn sick of having to focus on the "old days".

Hey Denia if you're into latin rock you might check

Los Tres,Los Bunkers,Andres Calamaro, and obviously Charly Garcia and his projects

talkin bout bands with city names...

today I watched again Live Aus Berlin from Rammstein...WHAT A SHOW!...fire,sparks,costumes,sodomy,self-agression,crowd surfin, and tanzmetal at it's purest

Oh come now, Robby, you know Macbeth was the only great thing Laibach ever recorded. Although much of Let it Be and a few of the more inspired pieces from Through the Occupied Netherlands were pretty good too. ;)
