I wonder how old he is in that picture? I am assuming that is his sister? They have the same smile

Due respect and all that, but neither myself nor a number of posters here are 'projecting themselves onto Morrissey'.What goes on here at Solo is what happens in so many little corners of the interwebs: people engage in endless, obsessive conversations about someone they know from a safe distance, someone who has clearly influenced their lives. Everyone here is projecting themselves onto Morrissey and each other, with predictable results. Morrissey himself is self-contained, set in his ways and has not changed much from those early days, when he gave new meaning to the word "ungovernable."
Lots of folks come here with kind, insightful and intelligent comments: over the course of the years they have remained relatively positive and thoughtful, and they clearly appreciate all the good things that Morrissey has to offer. They have real respect for Morrissey's accomplishments which (believe me) leave even his most jaded, cynical and world-weary colleagues tongue-tied with admiration. This strikes me as a reasonably good use of one's time. Those who are thoughtfully disappointed are also part of a worthwhile conversation. Those who come here to vociferously and single-mindedly disabuse Morrissey's fans of their supposed illusions are growling dogs chasing their own tails: Morrissey's fans (for the most part) know what they've gotten themselves into.
I've been in the business a long time, and I know folks who have worked very closely with Morrissey in positions of some authority. Morrissey's critics do have a point: the man is notoriously unreliable, unpredictable, and inexplicable. He is contrary, self-absorbed, and dysfunctional. He has admitted as much time and time again in his music and in interviews: he successfully turned sickness into popular song. His colleagues are as baffled by his behavior as everyone else (and they are in disagreement as to the cause). One thing I can say for sure is that some of those who knew him well (and who suffered to some degree for it) grudgingly love him nonetheless. The music business used to be (and probably still is) a moveable Satirycon (as I believe John Lennon once noted). Morrissey's sins, although grievous, pale before the outrages of many of his better-known colleagues. There are names familiar to everyone here whose attacks on and abuses of fans, journalists and fellow band members make Morrissey look relatively well-mannered and restrained. Fame, adoration and power twist the soul and release terrible demons and (should one's career last long enough), a corrosive bitterness often washes in. However unpleasant Morrissey's latest musical offerings have been, they are honest.
The smart fans know that, in music as in life, it's often best to take the bitter with the better. Everything else is either an intentional or unintentional waste of time.
If this thread just focused on that photo, it would have made its way towards the archives after ten posts (just like all threads would)—made by the usual suspects, i.e., fawning sycophants who make their obligatory posts of approval: lovely, wonderful, thank you for posting this... blah, blah, blah... while contributing absolutely nothing substantive—either negative or positive. Without the rest of the posters here—including the outspoken critics/negativists—there would be no discussions. Period. And this site would soon look worse than it appears now. It would look like All You Need is Morrissey—a sycophantic, highly censored, lovefest of dullards.
I enjoy Brunmmie's posts. If you don't, ignore him. He isn't harassing anyone—just sanding against the grain. There is a place for those who want all the comments to be sugarcoated: AYNIM.
Who cares what his motives are for posting here, or how much time he spends on this site? Completely irrelevant to the merit of the content of his posts. Personally, I have found some real gems in his posts. Look past the messenger, his motives, and all your other prejudices, and perhaps you will as well. It cannot be denied that he was THE person who carefully exposed Morrissey's animal rights hypocrisy by carefully articulating an argument that is sound, intelligent, and evidence-based. I was sold.
I don't agree with all your opinions, lynnda. But I do enjoy reading your posts. There is room for everyone here.
Brummie, you're like a mouse with a cracker. Determined to bitch about Morrissey. It's weird. I mean, what do you want? If Morrissey sat down and went through brummieboy bootcamp and lived exactly as you thought was ideal, what would you tell him to do? What would shut you up?
BB Boot Camp for Morrissey:
Day 1: Either adopt a vegan diet/become a Jain or STFU about "Meat Is Murder", ya tosser!
Day 2: You love the UK/Britain: When were you last domiciled here for personal/corporate tax purposes?
Day 3: What's your problem with sexuality? Why do you issue a denial of 'homosexuality' and edit your silly book for the US?
Day 4:
Day 16:
Not sure I've got time for this, but you get the picture..I don't care how he lives his life, i just don't put up with mouthy mancunians talking crap, just how we BrummieBoys roll..
Due respect and all that, but neither myself nor a number of posters here are 'projecting themselves onto Morrissey'.
If I may add, it's pretty arrogant of you to assume you can know such a thing.
As for the rest of the post, well it's a lot of words saying nothing.
You've had better moments on the forum.
Being vegan doesn't mean being more compassionate. You realize the computer you peck at all day is glued together with horsehooves and oil industry shame? Do you want him to NOT change people's minds about what they eat with his words because you know he takes milk with his tea? You want him to be more LOYAL to a country? You want him to exercise blind patriotism? The same blind patriotism that barbequers exhibit when it comes to the "tradition" of firing up the grill for a sports event? Do you realize the first two things on your list are mutually exclusive requests? He can't win with you. You just want to hear yourself yammer.
You're not projecting yourself onto Morrissey but maybe "Anaesthesine" is. The more desperate the attempts to defend Morrissey WITHOUT actually answering the charge sheet (veganism/tax/sexual denial, etc), the more fun it gets. Evading the issues by waffling on about a lot of bluster about how Moz is really some utterly impenetrable, myterious Edith Piaf figure beyond rational analysisdoesn't really cut it for those of us anchored in consensual reality.
As usual, you've melted down into cult Stockholm Syndrome theatrics rather than answer. You asked, so I gave you an opening list.
It doesn't matter if he changes people's minds about eating meat if he eats cheese/drinks milk: it's the same process of torture/slaughter.
Your comments to evade his "tax efficiency" are beyond ridiculous. Do you think Switzerland is a vegan country? The US? Sweden? Or any of the other places he hangs out in as a tax troubadour? He constantly claims he has the right to stand behind the Union Flag, but why? If he doesn't even pay taxes here, why should anyone take him anymore seriously than the right-wing UKIP nutter "ex-pats" in Southern Spain complaining?
No wonder he hasn't 'granted' an interview to the UK press for 7 years: they'd eat him alive. As I'm doing!
What really doesn't cut it is using the word 'anchored' and the phrase 'consensual reality' in the same sentence. What next: 'definitive horoscope' or 'genuine clairvoyant'. As for your 'charge sheet', must Morrissey pass muster on every level? Can't we just like him despite his faults? In fact, why can't we be blind to his faults? Hero worship is no bad thing, so long as it doesn't lead us over a cliff edge. It's no more damaging, no sillier than any other kind of love, is it? Why pick away at the things that make people happy? It's a short and ridiculous life. People project meaning onto all kinds of things.
You are not eating anyone alive, you are spazzing out so someone will pay attention to you. Whenever you start defining your reality it's a sign you're losing it. If your concerns about Morrissey's tax-paying habits are of legitimate concern to his contribution to society, you CLEARLY are missing the point of his voice, his music. You're like a victim of your own Stockholm Syndrome but instead of a cult leader, some bizarre mispaced jealosy is pulling your strings and making you appear like a deranged Onion.com caricature. Come back in an hour and read your posts.
Read your own posts, dipstick! Oh, the irony of YOU above all others attempting to claim the voice of reason. Hilarious. You are in no place to pontificate about the 'point' of his music or contribution to society, neither is Anesthepam or the rest of the cult myrmidons. Jealous of what? Morrissey? Why would I be jealous of an unhinged clown?

Because he's better at it than you. But you try, oh how you try. Here's some sexy tips compliments of escapist Disney movies that you may not have picked up listening to Morrissey CDs. We know you need all the help you can get, bb.
Oh, yes. Oh, dear..I understand. So, you've taken this twink photo of Morrissey after confession at St Patricks and you use it with these Disney 'college humor' links to get ready for your astral plane sex rendezvouz with...*vomits*
Nooooo. I use a vibrator and imagine modern day him whispering Candy Crush words into my ear, tyvm.
That's something foryou to share with your pastor and/or your therapist. Not with 'consensual reality' or you may find that 'realitybites' you back with a *vomit* for over-sharing/TOO MUCH INFORMATION!!!
Sorry, it's not Jackie! My mistake. But it is Dublin.
LOL! So you couldn't just bite your lip, put me on IGNORE and get on with your life? Or come back with some meaningful response? Never mind. I live in a very upmarket neighbourhood. I very much doubt there's any hookers able to afford property around here, but you never know. I've never had to pay for sex because I get offered it endlessly. That might change as I get older, but I doubt it. I have been to lots of Morrissey comedy shows, it's a truism that the closer you get to the stage the uglier the mob gets, and the more disturbed. I'm sure you're front row material.
I've utterly debunked Morrissey and nobody here has any answers:
He eats/wears torture/slaughter animal products so his claim to be an animal welfare radical is ridiculous.
He complains about the loss of the UK's identity as a nation but appears to be a tax-exile and has admitted to using his Irish ancestry to do exactly that.
He appears to be so ashamed of the idea that anyone might think he's had gay sex that he allowed the US edition of his "Autobiography" to remove any relationship revelations that might suggest that he's gay/bi/whatever.
He's ridiculous on so many levels it's hard to know where to start. But you can reply debunking my debunk if you want: good luck with that one!
I am an intellectual. Morrissey is NOT an intellectual. And trust me, lynnda: you are certainly not a gifted thinker on any level. You are indeed very, very silly. But that won't stop you replying, will it? LOL! Morrissey will indeed be remembered as a beautiful singer and a talented lyricist/composer of vocal melodies AND as one of the most ridiculous figures in popular culture. Trust me.
regards
BB
ps: Peterb I'm glad you're amused/entertained!

I think "You're the one form me Fatty" is more appropriate.
