Morrissey's return to the music world is great news for fans . . . just don't expect to be wowed by his latest lyrical 'genius'

Despite a chequered solo career, World Peace is None of Your Business is something genuinely amazing: the objectively worst thing Morrissey has ever done

Morrissey’s tenth solo album is an odd hodge-podge of studio tinkering, random sound effects, half-completed songs, Spanish guitar, and brilliant vocals...

What an insulting, cruel response, and complete misreading of the sentiments both Anon and I expressed. It's not about not wanting to "bother" with an album because it's "too good," it's about self-preservation and emotional well-being. You may not be as a sensitive an individual as others, but that's no reason to dismiss those of us who do have that kind of relationship with the music we love.

What's so emotionally devastating about Vauxhall & I or The Queen Is Dead that you can't listen to them multiple times? I can honestly say that in all my life I've never heard an album that I couldn't listen to over again because it was too powerful. The only reason I might not want to listen to Vauxhall again is because I was in a coma of boredom. TQID, on the other hand, is just f***ing beautiful, glorious music that could be on endless repeats as far as I'm concerned.

Am I an insensitive clod? Probably, but hey.

Wow 0/10 ! I tend to agree. 2 Moz records that I will never purchase....World Peace and Ringleaders. Years of Refusal was fantastic....thanks to the Walker brothers. So now, it's become a wedding band.

You'd have to ask the person who mentioned those albums. That wasn't me. As for myself, I have no interest in sharing the intimate details of my psyche or cataloging my life experiences in order to convince you of the validity of my emotional response to anything.

This can't honestly be the first time you've heard of people having intense emotional reactions to the Smiths or Morrissey. Come on.

Well said. I think Agharta is one of those tiresome Morrissey fans who try to emulate his antagonistic stance but don't have the style, wit or intelligence to rise above the sort of basic internet trolling that's merely pleased with its own mediocrity and so doesn't try to say or do anything remotely interesting or memorable or valid. Named after one of Miles Davis' later, naff albums though; so, you know, wears their mundanity like a badge of honour in any number of ways...

And you've listened to the album how many times?

And you've listened to the album how many times?

From beginning to end, without falling asleep? :(

Re: Article: "World Peace..." reviews (Independent.ie, FasterLouder, Seattle Music Insider, Globes,

Yeah but in this case your opinion is wrong. World peace is up there with Vauxhall, in what aspects? I think you've fell and hit your head

Nice response. Nobody can be wrong in this. Taste is subjective. World Peace is more dynamic and eclectic and amusing than Vauxhall - which is more reflective and low-key. I can like both.

Sure, but either way.

It's grand to see you back. Out of nothing other than mordant curiosity, do tell us which contemporary artists and albums you do like and listen to?

You dont even listen to it, youve been playing bona drag all week, then when your mates come round u flip to World peace, keeping up the pretense my friend, keeping it up.

Re: Article: "World Peace..." reviews (Independent.ie, FasterLouder, Seattle Music Insider, Globes,

Who in their right mind listens to an album and decides it's just too good to bother with again?

Weirdo
Probably the same type of person who would, for example, watch Forrest Gump more times than Shawshank Redemption even though they think Shawshank is the better movie. Not to go off on a tangent -- I think this is a fair analogy. Both movies came out the same year and I remember consensus that the wrong movie won the Oscar. Shawshank is just more of an emotional roller coaster, and you have to be in the right frame of mind and mood to watch it.

Similarly, Morrissey's best work is not simply background noise like a lot of other music that doesn't register in your mind and heart but ends up on your playlist for awhile anyway. No, it brings back a time, place, and mood, and reminds you where you were and who you were when you first heard it. Nothing else I was listening to at the same time can still do that to me.

But why am I trying to reason with you? It doesn't seem that you can be reasoned with, and I suspect that all or most of the thumbs up you've received are from that other main Moz-hater on this site. I mean, it's not like you're the same person with two accounts or anything.
