Re: additional reviews

Am I alone in noticing it seems like all the reviews that are coming in now seem to be lukewarm to bad? The initial ones were very positive.

It seems to me to have gone down much better than recent Morrissey albums in the UK (I don't recall such consistent praise for one of his albums since Vauxhall and I), but much worse in the USA, where it seems to be regarded as overly harsh and self-righteous.

Agreed. The UK/US divide with the reviews is pretty striking.

Are you able to blow yourself?

If he can't, all he needs is to be pointed in the direction of the various threads featuring your "sleeve art" to see how it's done...

Re: additional reviews

The biggest let down of the (deluxe) album thus far is the intro to “Drag the River”. For a brief moment, my brain fools me into thinking that I’m listening to Otis Redding’s immortal “(Sittin’ on) the Dock of the Bay”, and my heart paradoxically leaps for joy... only to be stultified by the reality. Akin to the defeating sensation when I hear that classic bass line, getting worked up for some “Ice Ice Baby”, but all I get is Bowie/Mercury. Sorrow.

Got the deluxe for $16.99. Not bad. Been listening all day and the man's voice is strong.
