Why "That's Entertainment"?

heh heh !!! I do have the odd moments Bluenose and let's face it....they would have to be odd wouldn't they ?

Re: It IS a good site isn't it?

It IS a good site that isn't it? But what a great sounding film you mention there Bluenose?! With this cast-list it appears to be very much up my street. Perhaps it was the first pairing of Youtha Joyce and Brian Murphy (aka George & Mildred)? & I had little idea that Murray Melvin was in anything other than 'A Taste of Honey'. A mate of mine is a big Harry H. Corbett fan . I'll ask if he has a copy.

James Booth - Charlie Gooding
Barbara Windsor - Maggie Gooding
Roy Kinnear - Fred Gooding
Avis Bunnage - Bridgie Gooding
Brian Murphy - Jack
George Sewell - Bert
Barbara Ferris - Nellie Gooding
Griffith Davies - Chunky
Murray Melvin - Georgie
Arthur Mullard - Ted
Peggy Ann Clifford - Ted's Wife
Wally Patch - Watchman
Bob Grant - Perce
Stephen Lewis - Caretaker
Victor Spinetti - Arnold
Jenny Sontag - Momma
May Scagnelli - Gran
Fanny Carby - Lil
Youtha Joyce - Paddy the Barman ????!!!!
Janet Howse - Janet
Queenie Watts - Queenie
Harry H. Corbett - Greengrocer
Marjie Lawrence - Girl
Glynn Edwards - Charlie's Friend
Gerry Raffles - Lorry-Driver

Well, that's not my problem is it, seeing as we live in different countries...YA NUMPTY!

Re: It IS a good site isn't it?

It is a brilliant film, Tingle. It was set during the time when tower blocks were seen as the homes of the future, although there is emphasis on how they were the cause of losing touch with friends and family. For example James Booth trying to find Barbara Windsor after she moved from the condemned house they shared and moved to a tower block. There is also a great scene with Murray Melvin, Barbara Ferris and Griffith Davis getting lost in the same block, trying to find a particular flat.

Interesting to see your cast list there. The film credits Yootha Joyce’s character as simply, Yootha. She certainly isn’t a barman! Another early collaboration is the late Bob Grant and Stephen Lewis, who starred in 'On The Buses'. Lewis plays the rules-obsessed caretaker of the flats. The character is similar to Blakey, so I wonder if he based the cantankerous conductor on this earlier role.

Oh, not to mention Queenie Watts and Arthur Mullard who appeared together a few times over the years, including 'Holiday On The Buses'

Thank goodness for that. I expect the librarians of Scotland to be at work and doing their duty.

If England wants to squander taxpayers money allowing librarians to lounge about at home watching filums that's up to them

I'm getting confused again, Bluebles. What's the name of that film? That's what happened to us , y'know.
Out of a slum tenement in 1968 that included sharing an outside lavvy with seven (count 'em!) other families, into a 18-storey 'skyscraper' that itself was a slum within 5 years.
happy days.

Ah, 'London Boys' by The Sweet. Aye....Brian Connolly - sadly missed.
Who gets wound up about them, Tingle? C'mon, name and shame the bastard.

Re: It IS a good site isn't it?

It's called 'Sparrow's Can't Sing', P.

Spooky! 80s faux-glam pop duo The London Boys had one, possibly both members die in a car crash.

Shall we see if we can persuade Elton John to release an album called 'The London Boys' No reason in particular, like...

Re: It IS a good site isn't it?

Nah, it's been deleted for yonks.

I'd offer to copy it for you, but you know what us birds are like with electrical items. I don't know one end of a scart lead from another

True, Bluebles. And cars. And maps.

I don't know one end of a scart lead from another

Is that anything like a dog lead, Bluebles?? I used to have one of them when I had a dog. (R.I.P. Zsa-Zsa)

As a punk, did you used to wear Zsa Zsa's dog collar too?

Re: It IS a good site isn't it?

No. Let's just say it wasn't a bulldog-style studded collar, Bluebles, and we'll leave it at that.
The chain-and-plug from the bath was the neckwear of choice for discerning young punks.
It meant none of the family could have a bath, but they didn't seem too bothered about that.
