Why not REAL Morrissey fans in the video?

That's probably the thing that disappoints me most about the IBEH video, that instead of showing his real fans that would be going apeshit during his performance, they cast a bunch of posuers off the street. Especially that guy that tries to look like Julian from the Strokes, I mean, do the video directors think they're going to fool a new generation of teenagers into thinking Morrissey's cool with these wannabe-LA-sideshow-freaks in the audience? And they didn't even react, some are like talking and having conversations on the floor when he's performing, and others are just walking around. Not only retarded but rude!

I think Lars Von Trier or Gaspar Noé could have made a decent video for him, like a modern day Derek Jarman. Morrissey's really got to be more picky about the people he works with!

I think all the regulars that follow Morrissey should have been in the video. I would have travelled to be in the video.

I think everyone from this site should have been invited to the shoot if they wanted teenagers to think Morrissey is cool. I would also liked to have seen that guy in the back be replaced with the patriarch of Morrissey solo-Patrick McCann.

Re: I thought it was footage from the Anaheim gig!?

Anyway I completely agree. They should have used live performance footage instead, it would have made it harder for them to screw the video up.

Watch the Jarman videos a lot, do you? I woke up, yawned, and forgot about them. Boring, in an 'artistic' way, but boring nevertheless. And this is from someone, who did a dissertation on Jarman's films at Uni.

The song is direct and simple and so's the video so it seems entirely appropriate.

yeah at least with the live footage the microphone would not change from the left to the right hand all the time. That is annoying.

Patrick ? He would start a fight with no one in particular on the plane on the way over and then spill his Guiness all down the back of the amps.

The man's a health hazard

Well personally I think Morrissey should have gone with some bizarre high definition abstract computer graphics, to represent the spiritual 'essence' of his fans.

I don’t like the video. Roman Copalla has made some interesting videos in the past. ‘Irish Blood, English Heart’ is not one of them. Morrissey looks out of place along side all those trendy young people. And I kept on seeing Converse shoes everywhere. I wonder why it’s so shite though. A practical joke perhaps?

I didn't find Jarman's Smiths video "boring" at all...I think the video for "There is a Light That Never Goes Out" is perfect for the song, though "The Queen is Dead" maybe a little too abstract. I also like "Panic", but I prefer the version not on the VHS - they had another one where it's Jarman's film in the background while a live performance was superimposed in front. Brilliant!

Exactly the man we would want to represent The Moz solo Gen Dis community.
Unless of course he couldn't make it then I think you should take his place.
PS. 16.5 inches, is that true?
