Why Morrissey Is Dead To Me, By Gene's Martin Rossiter - The Quietus

Why Morrissey Is Dead To Me, By Gene's Martin Rossiter - The Quietus

Morrissey was an inspiration to Martin Rossiter, whose band Gene share many fans with the former Smith. But after years of right wing blethering from Moz, Martin has had enough

"I feel ashamed and embarrassed that I quietly remained a Morrissey apologist for many years."

Re-read what you've just written. Read over those two paragraphs and see if you can make a connection between them.

Yeah Blair and Clinton are liberals/left last time I checked. Your point being?

That you conflate Blair and Clinton with "the left" demonstrates how utterly politically illiterate you are. Mind you, that was evident pretty much as soon as you began commenting, earlier in the thread.

Leaving that aside, for now, tell me in detail about the Conservative Party's vocal opposition to New Labour's proposed invasion of Iraq, back in 2003. What proportion of Conservative MPs voted against it?

I'm pretty sure New Labour and the Democrats are centre-left parties, feel free to disavow me of that particular truth.

I have no idea what the vote was in 2003 but I'm pretty sure they Conservative approval, however whichever way you package it you can't deny that Britain was lead into war by a left wing Labour government. Why bother denying it? But it's ALWAYS conservatives right? Give me a f***en break. Obama drone-striked the f*** out of the Middle East when he was in power.

Here's what you fail to understand, although it is convenient for you to package the formation of radical islam as an answer to western interferamce in the Middle East that isn't what drives them. Eradication of all non-believers from the earth is what fuels them. Let's say the West got out of the middle east completely it wouldn't stop them. It's a bit like believing all Hitler wanted was anschluss in Eastern Europe he would stop once expansion he got it.

The Labour Party stopped being a left-wing party in the late 1980s and, more particularly, in the mid-'90s when, led by Blair, it abandoned Clause IV and reinvented itself as New Labour. At that point, it surrendered its core principles and moved to the right-of-centre in order to render it more electable.

Did you completely miss the fact that former supporters of Labour despised Blair et al? Seriously? You're even more ignorant of what's going on around you than I thought.

britian-12001.jpg

Yes, it's true that New Labour led us into a completely unnecessary war - nobody's denying it. The point is that if the Conservatives had been in office, they would've done precisely the same thing: only 9% of Conservative MPs (15 out of 166) opposed the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

And, as for this...

Here's what you fail to understand, although it is convenient for you to package the formation of radical islam as an answer to western interferamce in the Middle East that isn't what drives them. ...you need to cultivate a better concentration-span. In the last hour, you actually attributed Wahhabi (look it up) terrorism to British and American foreign policy...

Oh goodness you really don't understand the history of Islam do you? Or Hilary Clinton's role as Secretary of State driving American foreign policy in Libya and Syria that crated the vacuum in which ISIS flourished. Or perhaps even Tony Blair wading into Iraq alongside America?? This is so misinformed it's not even funny.

Well now new terror attacks in London to discuss, let's all have a hug and shine lights on buildings, get bee tattoos, amend your facebook profiles to 'pray for London' and pretend it isn't happening. Afterall it was probably Conservatives they are far more dangerous than ISIS.

You're an actual, bona fide f***ing cretin.

Ultimately though it comes down to this:

You think there is actually very little to worry about, Europe is in great shape apart from the odd lone nutter. The rise of islamic terrorism is just a figment of the imagination of the centre-right and really all we need to do is carry on, give each other hugs and love each other more and everything will be a-ok. In fact as long as Europe (England as well) continue to invite even more immigrants in from the middle east even better!!!

I don't.

One of his will be proved right and one of us will be proved wrong I guess.

Please define how it is misrepresented proposition. Isn't it essentially what this entire debate boils down to?

Again, no solutions, just zero out middle east immigration. It's never going to happen. Revenge for no one's sake.

And no one is going to take seriously a grown man's opinion who style's himself after a moribund 80's pop-star.

You've done this several times already - responding to other people's arguments, you've disagreed by replying to their lengthy, well-reasoned posts, saying "Prove it! Prove it!" instead of actually engaging in a substantive debate. Yes, I'm paraphrasing, but that's the gist of your approach to arguing on the Internet. I want to say it looks like laziness, but the truth is you just don't have any substantive counter-arguments.

Anyway, I'll humour you on this occasion. You said...

It's a strawman argument because I haven't said anything even vaguely resembling any of that. And before you insist on proof that I haven't, my posts have been nos. 370, 380, 382, 384 and 386. Check them yourself.

Got to love it when bots get angry.

The best thing about Morrissey releasing his utterly cretinous statements is seeing the bots go into hiding.

The nutjobs like QQQ, Ketchup Bum etc. come out fighting, which is also fun to watch. But the serious bots, the Marreds of this world, they go very, very quiet. You can ask them directly about Morrissey's hypocrisy and lies and money-grabbing greed and his utter contempt for his fans, and the bots shrivel up and dodge all questions.

Occasionally though, they snap, and can't help themselves. Keep it up, Marred. You're the best bot there is.

I don't think they go into hiding. It's called having a job, a life. You should try it.

Don't you think this supports my idea that generally the country is moving left? You must be aware that in the past it was the left who would have been shouted down, called "communists" or "radicals," been infiltrated by the FBI, found speaking on campuses difficult?

I sort of agree with this. When I was in school one day this man appeared and set up a table. He was giving out reading material. I happened to be talking with my art history instructor when we passed his table. She looked at his material and took him by the sleeve. She physically removed him from campus. He didn't resist at all but she insisted on holding his sleeve and leading him away, because she did not like the reading material he was providing.
Now, some people might think she was wrong and some might change their minds when they find that he was a Holocaust denier. Personally I felt that he should have been able to speak, maybe more formally since it didn't appear he had permission to be there. But if what he was saying was factually incorrect there were several history professors. One of them should have been able to shut him down with an argument and actually had more impact than just not letting him speak.

The Civil Rights movement was fifty years ago. Since then we've had a two-term black President. Legalization of marijuana seems "left" to me. Talking about 2010 is like those guys that say "Hey it snowed. Global warming is a lie." There will always be some movement back and forth, some adjustment, but when this country started you couldn't vote unless you were a white male landowner and most of our heroes from that period were slave owners. Things are not going to the right.
Mike Pence's view "do seem a little archaic?' There you go defending this guy because his views are less extreme than those of the Islamic State. Come on. I have no problem saying Shillary is full of shit. Sure Pence is free to hold his views but it's embarrassing and disgraceful to have someone so backward and stupid as VP.

I think we need to distinguish between the liberal left and the authoritarian left.

Right now, places like universities are examples of the shift toward the authoritarian left. They are also examples of a decline in classical liberalism.

Now the strange thing, you could say, is that it is considered to be today a conservative position to believe in upholding classical liberal values like free speech.

Furthermore, the left's increasing authoritarian move is evidenced in the hysterical implementation of Stalinist political correctness.

It is certainly more complicated than just saying things are "moving left" or "moving right." The authoritarian nature of the modern left and the libertarian nature of the modern right must be taken into account.

Lol. Rossiter's Twitter bio is "never kiss a Tory." Imagine being such a shill that you dehumanize people (quite lierally, as evidenced with the un-humanization of Morrissey in that he becomes "dead" to Rossiter) just because of a difference in opinion. Sad!

Another psychoanalytic gem from Rozzer: "I've never hated someone so brilliant as much as I hate Cristiano Ronaldo." Hmm. Maybe he's just one of those SJW self-victimization types who hates anyone who achieves significant success?

Further, Rossiter didn't say this, but sometimes the truth is in the words that aren't said. Bear with me. Now, replace "Cristiano Ronaldo" with something else and...

"I've never hated someone so brilliant as much as I hate [Morrissey]."

Hmmm!

More evidence of his obsession with the more-successful-than-he: "dear @realDonaldTrump when you are writing lines for your tweets at 4am, are they the only lines you're doing?" which I suppose also makes him a conspiracy theorist, to use a leftist buzzword.

Interesting!

No, when you have groups of people being dehumanized by the likes of you, the bravest thing to do is write you off. You're just another in a long line of personality types that needs to be stood down.

"Another psychoanalytic gem from Rozzer: "I've never hated someone so brilliant as much as I hate Cristiano Ronaldo." Hmm. Maybe he's just one of those SJW self-victimization types who hates anyone who achieves significant success?"

You're boxing at shadows. No one is killing your free speech, and your battles with SJW's is a micro-bubble fixation made all the more important by your own isolation.

"More evidence of his obsession with the more-successful-than-he: "dear @realDonaldTrump when you are writing lines for your tweets at 4am, are they the only lines you're doing?" which I suppose also makes him a conspiracy theorist, to use a leftist buzzword."

It's always about the fragile ego with people like you. The idea that others are just drowning in jealousy at your fictional wealth, and influence; instead of realizing that they really just think that you're a bunch of unhinged misfits.

The battle you're waging in your mind is an illusion. You're insecurities have given it importance, and with that, a power over you. The fact that your avatar is a picture of Morrissey's failed attempt to woo the left-overs of a Nazi rally, says all that needs to be said.

You talk of dehumanization when you're a cult follower of a pop-star who as routinely dehumanized people he doesn't agree with.

Whatever moral high ground you think you stand on, it's like the enemies you're fighting, it's imaginary.

People like you don't confront conflicts, you create them for others to fight.

Why does that 2-face get to meet my hero anyway? :tired: :(

Viva Moz!

And here we have April Richardson who mentions in response to someone that "Johnny Marr is wonderful; I've met him a few times and he is the nicest dude", but fails to mention that she has also met Moz several times (the last time quite recently) and he has been nothing but nice. Funny how some people suddenly suffer from amnesia as soon as someone says something they don't like.

Martin Rossiter, 2012: "I felt very uncomfortable with the whole Britpop thing. It was played out under the dirty shadow of the union flag which I always found quite distasteful. I never had any desire to represent Great Britain. At the time I said that I regarded myself as European rather than British. I’m a Socialist and I’ve always felt very uncomfortable with the idea of nationalism because it can be a very dangerous thing."

Ohhh, the "dirty shadow" of the flag. Mr. Rossiter, you see, is a European Socialist. He hates his own country. lol Which is why he hates those trying to save his country.

Martin Rossieter, 2017: "The person that committed this atrocity [blowing up kids at a concert in Manchester] is as much Muslim as I am Martian."

Well, then he must be from Mars, because that bomber was very Muslim, and supported by many thousands of other Muslims in the UK. As were the London attackers. And they were all plugged in to Muslim terror networks in the UK, supported by wider Muslim terror networks abroad supported by millions of Muslims, many Muslim religious leaders, and some Muslim governments. But Mr. Rossiter thinks it has absolutely nothing to do with Islam. LOL

The terrorists were all well known by the authorities. In fact one of the London attackers was on a TV documentary last year waving the ISIS flag. Another of them told authorities in Italy outright he was going to be a terrorist. The Italians notified the UK and they did not care. And the Manchester bomber was part of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group in Manchester, well known by the authorities. He prayed at a Manchester mosque where leaflets were distributed condemning Western society.
The Mayor of London was on TV being interviewed by Piers Morgan the other morning. The Mayor could not have cared less that there were at least 200 Muslim Jihadists who had returned to London after fighting for ISIS abroad. The Mayor said they'd maybe try and track them if they had more money. This same Mayor is trying to block President Trump from being allowed to visit, but he's perfectly okay with terrorists all over his city. It is so insane it leaves you speechless. Meanwhile, UK authorities are rounding up anyone who is alleged to be an "Islamophobe".
If you're alleged to have hurt the feelings of a Muslim, however fake the charges, the police will come bust down your door. But if you are literally an Islamist terrorist fresh back to London from fighting for ISIS, and you waved an ISIS flag before millions on a Channel 4 documentary, well....nothing to see there, we'll look the other way...it's "diversity"!

All of the Isalmists in the UK (tens of thousands), according to Martin Rossiter, have as little to do with Islam as he has to do with Mars. A statement no one believes, and I don't think even he believes. It is just absurd talk by fools who are playing games with all of our lives.
Martin Rossieter will tell you he says these things because he's all about "diversity". But that's a lie. He's not for diversity at all. In fact, when his musical inspiration and hero, Morrissey, said some things he disagreed with, his response was to write an article saying Morrissey was "dead" to him. That's how "toleterant" of diversity Martin Rossiter is.

Props to Liam Gallagher of Oasis for his fine performance at the Manchester charity concert. Martin Rossiter used to say how awful Oasis was, what despicable people they were, blah blah blah, because they weren't "Politically Correct European Socialists" like him. But Oasis' music actually meant something to people, and when Manchester was hit, their music helped the people get through it. I think Martin Rossiter was probably cussed out by someone in Oasis and never got over it.

Neither one of them could think their way out of a competely open box.

Is that true about Rossiter? His Wikipedia page doesn't say anything about it. Neither does this one: https://www.morrissey-solo.com/wiki/Martin_Rossiter

Haha.Lol
Poor matin made his name as a very bad Morrissey impersonator.
Writing songs about his hero , trying his best to become "friends " .
only the most twee indie fan liked Martin and his band . They were bland and without edge , style or genius . Emotionless somgs for the "indie " kids
For all his hard work all martin got was a joint interview with Moz in LA for the NME. Moz didnt want to do it he was talked into it , and a slot in the foyer at meltdown - " No your place " the message .
Martin, has always been "right on ", Morrissey never has .
Martin is a mutt . For all his polite political words, he treats women like shit , doesnt pay hardly anything towards his childrens upbringing and is a slob but I guess as long as you vote green that's ok
Morrissey won't miss a moments sleep over this article. He always thought Martin was a very bad joke . Most of us uses to piss ourselves laughing at Martin trying and failing to give be like moz .

In Part 2, the stove was referred to as "something to cook fish fingers on." I thought Rossiter was supposed to be a vegetarian.

Told you the guy became a custodian after he failed at the music thing.
A failed and UNKNOWN musician, now a custodian hauling cement about, giving peeps philosophical advice.
If it wasnt ridiculous it would be funny.
