Why always thumbnail attachments?

Every time I try to attach a pic to one of my posts, it comes up as a thumbnail. Why? How do I get an attached pic to come up as a decent size?
Any help / suggestions appreciated.

In order to get a full size pic, you have to link the image, like:

[img*]www.blah.com/blahblahblah.jpg[/img*]

But without the little stars, and your image has to be hosted somewhere. Hope that helps.
