White people, the poll

So recently I was subjected to hearing a bunch of people(mainly white people) talking about all the horrible things we have done to the world and shit
now since this was at work, I just had to listen and nod my head

but now I can say: Dude! that shit bothered me, we white people aint so bad, are we?
I mean, we do more good than harm, right?
We are worth keeping around I think.
Now I should also add here that I am not going to define "white people"
its a lot like porn, you just know it when you see it
and honestly, I do not believe in "race" as such, its really an artificial social construct that I doubt will exist in the century after this
but need that be because we "white people" are all rounded up because well, we are so bad for "human kind"?
or will not stoop to constantly vilifying ourselves


ps: I am told, Japanese people "almost count as White people" based on their history of being really good at warfare

and technology, I dont really agree, though I am utterly fascinated by all things Japanese however, for the purpose of this poll and possible discussion
you count them as White people if you want

Life isn't black and white. (no pun intended) Most groups, white included, have their historically positive and negative points, which make them worthy of praise and condemnation at the same time. It seems more useful and factual to consider both the bad and good together, instead of making us choose just one as superseding the other.

It reminds me of those notes you used to see in high school:

This poll is odd. It assumes the people reading it – the “us” are white.

The question supposes that races can be defined as "good" or "bad". The same argument is used to perpetuate hate between Nationalities. eg "This country invaded my country two hundred years ago so I'll hate them forever".

What is sensible in arguing that it is possible to eradicate evil by eradicating a race? It completely misses the point. Actions by people everywhere are caused by common human emotions and motivations. They only vary in their impact according to access to power, natural resources, economic and political organisation, and how the results are interpreted by the scribes for posterity, or conveniently forgotten.

I find weakness in Robby's argument in that he bases his view of the status of Japanese people on his personal experiences, and criticizes a Japanese person who opposes this view as less informed than him.
