In light of the 'I was Morrissey's roadie' article, what was the first record you ever bought?

For me, The Queen is Dead. I was 12.

As I already admitted in the other thread. At a Warehouse record store, with my own money. I was five or six, I think.

It was either Trail of the lonesome pine -Laurel and Hardy

or Calling occupants of interplanetary craft -The Carpenters

mine was either beethoven's 9th symphony or spice girls.

i asked for and got beethoven's 9th but not after i bought spice girls.

you could count either

i bought an anne murray casssette tape at a record town. i was 6 years old. and i liked her face. she looked like a nice lady.

then i bought the following singles at christmas

magic olivia newton john.

rock with you michael jackson

cars gary numan

i wanna be your lover prince

all at the same record town.

i also got a guinea pig for christmas
some kind of grown up shoes from a shoe store called kinney shoes.
they made noise on the pavement when i walked and i felt growned up.

probably it was a cassette from an argentinian homosexual band that sang fun songs...

mine was this bohemian guy playing ukulele, acoustic guitar, african drums, and other tribal instruments.. i got the album when i went with my father to see him at some festival-type thing when i was about 7 (my parents are VERY boho). i wish i could remember who it was but the record snapped in half... one.. day.... when i... kind of..... threw it.:o

ive never bought a record, technically.
the first tape i ever bought all on my own was probably new kids on the block. there's no accounting for taste when you're 9.

:o I liked NKOTB, but I was in Jr High. I went to a bunch of their concerts too

I already said this in the other thread; my first musical purchase that didn't involve Charlie Brown was the Karate Kid soundtrack. My excuse is that I was 6!

Good god! I have a horror story about the NKOTB...

My firsts:
CD (1986): Beatles' Please Please Me
album/cassette (1983?): Men at Work, the one with "Land Down Under"
7" single (1984): Prince's "When Doves Cry", but when did the "Axel F Theme" come out? Maybe that was earlier.
12" single (1984): not sure; prolly Prince's "I Would Die 4 U"/"Another Lonely Christmas"
first paid download: can't remember; probably Moz's AOL live set

theo wir fahren nach Lodz - Vicky Leandros

actually me mum bought it, to annoy me, on familybirthdays, cause my
real name is theo

she always makes jokes about it, that Vicky was my fav. , she knew
I got upset

I can smile about it now, but at that time it was terrible

i never was really a single buyer, me brother was....but I remeber buying
'needles and pins'from Smokie for my Nephew's birtday

I can't remember something else buying when i was childhood class
[we have a very different schoolsystem than the USA]
WHEN i WAS 13, and in my 1 or 2nd class bought lust for life -Iggy pop
it was a giant hit during carnaval, punk was totally cool

I stop, cause it takes at least 6 years when I bought Hatful of Hollow
x-mass time 1984 on a trip to London, knowing the Smiths already a year
