What song are you listening to right now?

How do you feel listening to Ian Curtis?

I adore what he did but have to admit it is not music you just turn on to enjoy cause that is some serious stuff and a bit larger than life itself and absolutely consumes you completely.

Yes, Joy Division's music brings me down to my knees each time I listen to it. The powerful, dark lyrics are the perfect match to Ian's baritone. Because English is not my mother tongue, I select my music upon the melody, not the lyrics. They are secondary to me. The melody needs to evoke something in me. With Joy Division it was love at first hearing. The bass guitar plays a unique part; in a sense it becomes the leading instrument. After I fall in love with the sound, then I go into exploring the lyrics. Theirs are tormenting, agonizing and beautiful. There has not been any other band that could evoke the same kind of emotions in me. The Cure come pretty close though. I am forever saddened by the tragic end of Joy Division.

Grandpa boy - vampires and failures

Grandpa boy - natural mean lover

I love this. When westerberg recorded mono and stereo he labeled one disk under his own name and one as grandpaboy with him playing all the instruments and put it out as a double cd. When he did the follow up come feel me tremble, a soundtrack to a doc on him, he put out another grandpa boy album but this time released it separately. It's really neat as it sounds like a 50s lo fi blues album he tossed off in about a week. Very loose but kinda fun as well. Has four covers as well including a sweet Hank Williams cover

Very well put and the bass as a front does add something extra.

For sure in a Paul westerberg mood lately (bash and pop above is westerberg related as its tommy stinsons first band after the replacements before he went solo). These two are from an album that is just a neat idea an was made in a totally westerberg way. The album is titled 49:00 min of you life and was an MP3 only release consisting of one track released by Amazon only as they were the only people to hit his price point of 49 cents. It consists of fully formed songs which segways I told a middle of sown together song fragment collages which breaks for a really moving song about his dad's death before being rounded out by some classic covers. The songs have no names, aside from the covers obviously, though by now people have broken them up and named them. Goes from rockin in a greaser kinda way to twinkly exuberant folk all recorded in a whatever vibe that adds a lot to the songs. He likes first takes and will just leave a mistake in the song to give it some charm

Devil raised a good boy

I love how the Greeks always sing about love, the sea and their landscapes.

Everything that makes life beautiful, really.

Third eye - it makes sense

Found this band today and it's pretty sweet. A tight kinda sixties garage band but modern and no I don't mean in the artic monkeys way. Has a more old fashioned feel with an organ keyboard surfy vibe. Really tight though and the guitarists is good

Between third eye blind and third eye the mystical stuff info on the band is very annoying to seek. Turns out it was an organ though

The dears - to have and hold

I need to get this album. Degeneration street was really good and this sounds pretty swell so far
