What is the YOR "explosive kegs" moment for you?

bored

not bitter but bored
What one lyric makes you shudder when you hear it from the new record?

Mine is:

did you really think we meant
all of those syrupy, sentimental things
that we said?

It's just the word syrupy.

There really isn't one..thus far. This album is already so far beyound ROTT, I am really pleased. The melodies are so much better, the music is far more interesting, and his vocals are a huge improvement.

I like explosive kegs. I like it when he puts in unexpected lyrics which jar. It's one of the things I like about him as a lyricist.

Definitely:

"All of the gifts that they gave
Can't compare in any way
to the love I am now giving to you
Right here, right now
On the floor"

But I also hate all his whiny lyrics about bureaucracy:

"Uncivil servants unconcerned at how they frighten you"

"Spare priggish money-men who scared the life out of you
bailiffs with bad-breath
I will slit their throats for you"

"a QC full of fake humility"

We get it - the evil lawyers are trying to take your money away from you, and you hate them very, very much. But please, for the sake of art, can't you sing about getting chased by beer monsters at age 16 or something?

I love the 'explosive kegs'.

However I see what you are getting at, and for me the moment arose thus:

'Sorry will not bring my teen years back to me'.

I like what he is trying to say, but as lyrics these are terrible, clunky and ill fitting.

None.

And the "All of the gifts that they gave Can't compare in any way
to the love I am now giving to you" line is the key moment on the entire album!

It's currently on my sig. Not only what Morrissey sings but how he sings it as well. Makes me wanna MELT....:horny:

That's cuz I LOVED the 'explosive kegs' part in Dear God.:guitar:

In "Something Is..." it sounds like he's saying something like, "the motion of taxis excites me, when you peel it back and bite me." I'm sure I must have misunderstood him, that's far too dirty.

I've never heard Morrissey sing like this - damned impressive. Not that he hasn't been impressive before, you know what I mean. A lot of energy and dexterity in his voice.

Please excuse my non-articulate-ness. I'm listening to YOR for the first time right now. It's very good indeed.

Me too

I felt the same way about explosive kegs as I did about 'I would go out tonight but I haven't got a stitch to wear' I thought: how can someone use those words in a song lyric?

for me it would be on One Day Goodbye Will Be Farewell when he sings

"And the smiling children tell you that you SMELL, Well"

But that's one of the reasons why I love MORRISSEY, his quirky lyrics

That's a great line. I mean, why would they be smiling while telling you you smell? :D Little brats!

It's...

"The motion of taxies excites me
will you peel it back and bite me?"

Filthy, positively filthy!

I felt like Mary Whitehouse for a moment there.

But the bulk of what you quoted is being sung about someone elses predicament...
