What is currently your favorite television show(s)?

On a day like today when I got help from the road rescue when the battery died and I was locked in meaning I could not get help from just anyone with a car it was nice to see another episode of "Vägens Hjältar" (The heroes of the road).

One of them has a dog with him all the time when he's working and one girl is a lesbo whose nickname is Soffan (The Couch) and I have my suspicions why she is called that.

They make the roads of Stockholm flow like no other.

Soffan the diesel dyke deals with a polish driver who is very tired:

NOT my fave show at all but I hate these people so much it is fascinating to see it. It is a study how to live a useless life when your childhood was completely f***ed up by weird religion you never quite recovered from.

A norwegian crime drama based in Oslo about Robin Wold who after 6 years in prison tries to start a new life after he was involved in a crime gone wrong acting as the driver.

This is something as unusual as a tv series involving young muslim men with bombs that dares to admit the massive drug problem in Norway and Oslo in particular. They even make fun of the swedish police in Malmö.

But the thing is that the police made up of white men are the bad ones here using immigrants as agents with the hope of permanent citizenship to solve crimes. In the end they dare to do what few others have done but just had to turn it on its head by dealing with a corrupt police force stealing money and drugs from earlier crimes.

Promising in many ways after one episode but with many political correct red flags flapping in the wind.

So as some know I've been on about the swedish crime series BECK that is in fact both a series and separate films. They are now available online with english subtitles free and legal for all.

This is episode 1 from 2016 which was the last season Mikael Persbrandt played the character Gunvald Larsson:

Season 1 to season 6 can be found here:

Martin Beck has been played by quite a few actors through the years and my favourite of them all is Gösta Ekman playing Beck although the current one Peter Haber is doing an amazing job as Martin Beck.

Gösta Ekman as Martin Beck. He passed away just over a year ago on April 1 which was not a April fools joke but since he was also a famous comedian it felt fitting somehow.

This poster is not the real deal and I guess a Netflix version but this is a fantastic german tv series about neo nazis that formed a terror group, NSU. This is not some kind of german history x but rather a german "This is England" in my view.

Inspired by Timothy McVeigh they bombed and murdered political opponents and the dialogue in this one makes you realise these people were in fact talking about all the problems we all have now all over Europe if not the world.

Of course it is PC in some ways but suprisingly not as much as you'd expect. Maybe a few too many Hitler salutes and nazi skinhead parties but one episode into it I am sold on it.

The people behind it state over and over how they have mixed real events with fiction but that has more to do with legal matters and this focuses on Beate Zschäpe and how she got dragged into this political group.

It starts around the time the Berlin wall came down and then continues into the 90's so a lot of it takes place during the same years and era as the events of "This is England". Cannot say I knew too much about these people and what they did so I have a few things to study now before making my mind up if they portrayed these people in the right way or not.

Fantastic actors and storyline and a real surprise and this might well be the best german production in ages.

This is the german poster:

Wild Wild Country was spoofed on SNL last night. I remember it being discussed last month and thought some might want to see it. Kenan Thompson really steals it!

LOVE almost all the SNL spoof skits! They have a way of deconstructing and then reconstructing a topic in the most hilarious way. The Californians always gets me laughing. Aztec Camera would make a great writer on this sketch.

I am now currently binge watching:

I can't get enough! I have had heated discussions with my co-workers about the best character, and it is almost an impossible task, but I always land on Robert California. James Spader at his absolute best and funniest.

Wild wild country is now so hyped up I've decided not to watch it but I cannot wait for the season of WACO.

Netflix are crap at movies and documentaries in my view. They've made a few good drama series but that's it. Why do people pay for it when it is free and legal online?

Unless you cannot hook up a computer with your tv I guess. The things on Netflix are so old and you have to wait forever for some films and that.

Any kind of subscription to watch any kind of tv or films and sports is just like burning money on nothing.

I can see it now. SNL has Morrissey on as both the Host and the Musical Guest. The writers decide to tap Aztec Camera’s talents for The Californians skit. It goes something like this:

Moz and Aunt Nancy (guest appearance) receive a delivery order of potato tacos right as they’re trying to leave for the Dodgers game that Moz has season tickets for where he sits between Tommy Lasorda and John Lydon. Moz is in a hurry to get to the game as he’s singing the American National Anthem, of course, because he’s American. They all check themselves in the mirror to make sure they look great knowing they’ll soon be up on the big screen for the Kiss-Cam. Then they discover that the taco delivery boy is not only Damon his trusty man servant but also the secret love child that he and Nancy gave away for adoption years ago. The Californians, innit?

Good choice on The Office. I like it a lot, too. Both the US and the British casts. I’m going to have to think on favorite character though. It might change depending on the season. Maybe Dwight.......

Just to add to the Morrissey skit it is important to mention that you have to take the 10 north to the 101 and then east on the 110 to the stadium. Again one of those far off memories is that of his appearance on SNL when he sang You're the One for Me Fatty. I went to a wedding in middle Illinois with my girlfriend at the time and she just didn't get it. Not her fault, but mine because that was pretty much it for us. At the time it was important to me that the person I was with understood how important he was in my life. Looking back so ridiculous. But still he remains ever present in my thoughts.

To feed your love of SNL sketches:

That was a big fat hook! Pretty funny! I have always watched SNL but somehow I missed that one. And I can’t believe I forgot the directions part. That’s so critical. Good catch! I just watched these two again a couple days ago.

Watch at your leisure. Comedy is so subjective. What one person finds funny may completely fly over someone else’s head. I crack myself up all day long but most people either miss it entirely or just look at me like I’m a freak. At least I have a good time! Confession here, I like to talk to strangers in groceries stores and make jokes about what we’re shoping for. I find it’s sort of like an elevator where you’re not supposed to talk to or look at anyone. To me it’s a golden opportunity to push boundaries and have some fun. Some people play along and enjoy it, other people quickly push their cart away to another aisle. The best people always seem to be in front of the cat food!

This is one of the funniest skits they ever did! Ryan Gosling could barely keep a straight face. Kate McKinnon will be the next cast member to break it big. Kristin Wiig is the bomb. You are fun TAT. I walk to my elevator everyday to go to work and I run into the same girl. I end up holding it for her. I asked her name once and immediately forgot it. Now I feel like I can't ask it again. Such a great sketch in the making.

Comedy is the only thing to live for. That and music and movies and television and stage performances and the beauty of the outside world and well I guess there is a lot to live for and enjoy. Heaven holds nothing over the joys that are there for the taking here and now. Just don't grab a ripe apple off a tree and you will be fine. ;)

I’ve been told that when the writers are stuck for a laugh they just write Keenan reacts. They don’t even try and direct it

Those with Netflix can watch it in better quality but the above comes with english subtitles.

About Ben Middendorf and his men fighting the talibans in Afghanistan. Real life documentary and real life action as they walk across large opium fields in search for taliban hideouts.

I’ve been told that when the writers are stuck for a laugh they just write Keenan reacts. They don’t even try and direct it
They always had people like that who were able to improvise and just create some madness that became funny as hell.

Shame he needed so much drugs to produce and ended up like this:

Babylon berlin on Netflix.
it's pretty good, it's missing something though, a certain atmosphere. it doesn't really invite you in. berlin in the thirties seemed like a fascinating place though.
I am HOWEVER feeling a bit gypped that the sexy german actor jens harzer who first won me over to the sexiness of men of god with his turn as a priest in the film requiem, appears unrecognizable with heavily made up face. when I saw his name in the credits I was like "oh boy!" and all set to do some heavy jens ogling, so that I kept waiting for him to appear and was like "okay when are they going to show sexyjens?!" so that I didn't even realize that i had been watching him all this time, that all this time he was in fact the disfigured doctor. why would you squander jens' beauty in such a way?!?!

My continuing flirtation with reality television leads me to the quite, quite remarkable Ancient Aliens.

The premise of this show is that the legends and myths of our forefathers were in fact true. It’s essentially Erich Von Däniken for the pissed up, just back from the pub, kebab chomping “the dozy f***er didn’t put any f***ing curry sauce on it!” generation.

What I like about it particularly is that it poses question after question after question to which the answer is “no.”

In the latest episode we are invited to examine the Norse legends of Odin, Thor and Loki. Was Odin’s mighty spear Gungnir, said in legend to never miss its target, in fact a heat seeking missile created by alien tech? No.

Was megingjörð, the magic belt that gave Thor his immense strength, in reality an exo-skeleton similar to the ones currently being developed by the US military? No.

Was Thor’s hammer Mjölnir, reputed to be able to crush mountains with a single blow, in fact a kinetic energy weapon created not by dwarves but by alien Greys? No.

Was Valhalla, the mystic hall in which Viking warriors cut down in battle feasted, shagged and fought their way through eternity in fact an interstellar spaceship? No.

Was Bifrost, the rainbow bridge which linked Midgard, the realm of man, with Asgard, the home of the Gods, actually a wormhole in space between worlds? No.

All this is interspersed by contributions from middle aged men who have made a reasonable living out of publishing books saying that it’s all true. The sense they all live in the same run down trailer park in Arizona is palpable.

The entire thing is Stargate: the cheap version. Remarkably it is shown on the History Channel. Less remarkably the narrator is called Robert Clotworthy.

So the Roseanne reboot is going pretty well. For the most part each episode is getting better with yesterday’s being one of the best so far. Still weird seeing it in hi def and I’m not a big fan of the short cuts between scene as it doesn’t allow some of the tension and conflict to build enough to achieve the bigger emotional payoff
