the etchings

they can be found on the smooth black part of the vinyl near the middle label.
hold at an angle to the light.
made my eyes go blurry after a while though.
hope this helps!

There's loads. Most of the vinyl formats (albums, singles and 12 inch) of The Smiths and Morrissey have run-out groove massages. Panic has got " I dreamt about stew last night" as the A-side groove with nothing on the B-side. Think I feel a "What's your favourite..." thread coming! "Would you risk it for a biscuit?" anyone?

You have killed me 7"
Let me kiss you 7"
IBEH 7"

all 3 above: DAMONT

Redondo/TIALight 7" : DAMONT and there's "C.G.P." too

There's nothing on ROTT 2LP

Live at Earls court 2LP has DAMONT too

Two I remember are KISS MY SHADES and BIZARRE VIBRATING PALM DEATH ... but don't remember which records they were on, sorry.

Last of the Famous

I believe the etching on The Last of the Famous is...

Escape from Valium
Return to Valium

JIM

My copy of 'Last Night I Dreamt...' has 'the return of the submissive society' on one side & 'The Bizarre Oriental Vibrating Palm Death' on the other.

I didn't know if the etchings were just on the test pressings though, i don't have my vinyl collection with me so i can't check, that's the only one i know since i remembered & was able to check on eil.com. They'll probably have a full list of the etchings on there. Very odd, but nice nonetheless.

My "Special Etched Disc" of "Interesting Drug" (the one with Oscar Wilde / Motor Cycle Au Pair Boy) reads:
"WHAT KIND OF MAN READS DENIM DELINQUENT?"

My "Ouija Board, Ouija Board" reads:
"ART,ANY ROAD"

While at it I checked my Smiths records, and hey presto, "Panic" says:
"HANG THEM HIGH MONIKA"

I like this thread. The notes are mysterious, aren't they? Who is Monika...?!

Vinyl etchings were great.
Among my favourites
Art Any Road
You Are Dreaming, You Don't Want To Sleep
Alf Ramsey's Revenge

I believe "Denim Delinquent" was a New York Dolls fanzine in the 70s.

Oh and like i said, all recent moz vinyls have that "damont" word so i've just googled it and.. it looks like it's a vinyl manufacturing company

see http://www.damontaudio.com/

would this mean they were pressed there ? i'm very suspicious now
(this would mean there are no more etchings on recent moz releases then)

You're all forgetting the best one, etched onto the 'Wiiliam, It Was Really Nothing' single:

Romantic and square is hip and aware.

The full list of all 'official' Morrissey etchings is given in the discography in Peepholism. And yes - 'Damont' sounds like some technical thing rather than a Morrissey witicism...
