That said, I believe people should appreciate their own culture and the things that have been passed down to them...

Nope. I believe people should question the culture they were born into, examine it critically, analyze it, and take from it that which is good. Some children are born into ISIS, which is not only a terroristic religious organization of sorts, but also a "culture" in and of itself. Should those children appreciate the things that have been passed down to them?

Old Man Morrissey would disagree with you himself. Many, if not most of us, were born into meat-eating cultures. The love of pork in all its delicious forms was passed down to me.

Stop trying to explain away Morrissey's ugly ethnocentrism. Love the art, impugn the artist.

:lbf:

Yes, you silly. Obviously that is what I mean, to take what is good, preserve it, and share it with all.

Nowhere in my posts here have I tried to explain away anyone’s beliefs.

He's not ethnocentric. And stop with that bollocks because no one who thought he was would be flagging up ISIS or mentioning pork.

Should I be grateful for where I was born? maybe.

If I had to fight for ‘my land’ so the ‘freedom I have’ wouldn’t be taken away, then would I be grateful for the land I was born in? maybe.

I’ve never been put in that situation, if I was, would I then understand patriotism better? maybe.

I could never understand why people identify with a county, with ‘their land,
with their people, their blood.’ It’s just weird to me.

That said, I believe people should appreciate their own culture and the things that have been passed down to them, but is it healthy to make an identity out of it? To use it in a way that sets people apart and causes divisions or worse?

Identity I believe is the keyword here.

I think I agree with this framing but lets work on it more. Shall we?

I never liked the word 'patriotism' cos it gets abused so much. In school I used to be slagged off for liking English bands like The Smiths or The Cure. Meanwhile my tuneless tiresome tormentors worshipped drivel like Hot House Flowers and U2. I was called 'unpatriotic' by some emptyheads. In general my favourite bands are English, my fav comedies are English, and my fav books and TV shows are American.
I agree with you 100%...with the exception of Father Ted - the greatest television show in the history of television...which is 25 years old this year. Incredible.

Oh...paralysis through over analysis 🙄. No. Spare me the diagnostics.

Nope, that ship sailed long ago. If this country is very lucky it might achieve mediocrity in time but the immediate future is bleak. Plus, I don't imagine you have any clue as to what criteria England would have to meet to be considered 'great.'

It would help if God Awful racists could shut up so anything sensible doesn't get crushed under a thousand accusations of being Just Like That.
Sensible people are always proud of their race and country - despite the mainstream media anti-white campaign which instructs us otherwise.

Morrissey is one of these proud people - a man who refuses to bow to his bullies. A patriot - and an English and Irish nationalist.

Up the rebels!

...Whenever I feel nostalgic for the Marr and Morrissey partnership, I watch the Eurovision episode, and I get a sense of what it's like to create a beautiful song together. :D

It's heartbreaking that Dermot Morgan died so young.

So you'd vote for the cheeto-faced MAGA hat-wearing turd if you were an American? Because you sound just like one of his supporters.

1. Get rid if the Zionist fifth column running the show. Only death would suffice for this crowd.

2. Expel the invaders they've been pumping in since after WW2.

Then rejoice, unite and rebuild.

As I suspected you still haven't a clue and are resorting to posting meaningless nonsense that would probably get you a few upvotes on Parler but mean absolutely nothing to anyone else. Not least because neither of those things will ever happen so may you ever flounder in the cesspool of your own disappointment.
