The first blow to ROTT in the end of year lists: it doesn't make the Uncut best 50 albums of 2006. Ridiculously early I agree, but there you go.

Incidentally: You Are The Quarry did make Uncut's 2004 list.

You may well find that a lot of the "artists" (I use this term very loosely in some cases) featured on the list were probably featured on their free cd's. Which most months,it has to be said,consists of music that is fairly bland and lacking in any inspiration.

Hmmm....I just read the list to my missus, and she said "Is this an old person's magazine?". Having said that, I did buy the Joanna Newsom album today, and it's very good indeed.

Hmm... I like Dylan and all, but choosing Modern Times as no. 1 album of the year is rather... reactionary? embarrassing? useless? It's more or less like saying "We gave up on popular music, thank you very much". And how can they not have the Hold Steady's new album on the list?
