UK Chart Position statement - Morrissey Central (31 May, 2019)

UK Chart Position. - Morrissey Central
May 31, 2019

"Given the inexhaustible Hate Campaign executed against me by The Guardian and their followers, I am pleased with the UK chart position for "California son".
BUT WHO WILL GUARD US FROM THE GUARDIAN?
No one, it seems.

It is worth noting that their chief antagonist in this Hate Campaign is someone I took to court some years ago for writing lies about me. He lost his court battle then, and now he's seeking his personal revenge by using The Guardian, who have been harassing everyone and anyone connected with my music imploring them to say something terrible about me for print. This is the open face of Soviet Britain.
Please do not buy this wretched hate-paper, whose every 2019 utterance echoes the late Mary Whitehouse.
It is the voice of all that is wrong and sad about modern Britain."

OK maybe enough now. Peter I really think you need to stop this for the sake of your mental health. We get it you don't like Morrissey anymore but mate, the sun is shining outside...go out for a nice walk or something. Put ya Bradford kit on and go for a kick about. I think 15 to 1 is on, make a brew, do sme charity work? take up knitting just do something, anything rather than sit dribbling at the computer waiting for a Moz story to be appear so you can reply with the same old same old. You are ill. We are worried about you Peter. Leave Morrissey solo once and for all.

Thewlis, if sales are 8k, that is total shit. There has been a massive poster campaign in the UK and the album has grossed 80k, which is a shocking return for BMG.
Be real. The music business has changed radically from revenue from product. Releases are advertisements for tours where the money is made and secondary buy ins to previous releases. Morrissey is not struggling for tour revenue and I'd be happy to hear/see some of the covers live. The idea he has a record contract at 60 (with some brilliant vinyls/covers) is pretty much a miracle. Long may it continue.

You're probably right, in that he's likely gained unsavoury new fans who are Tommy Robinson and For Britain devotees and who balance out the loss of long term fans who have finally been turned off by his latest proclamations.
LOL. It's not exactly skrewdriver. They might be disappointed.

Well, the touring over sales revenue argument is true, be he's still a fucking diva about not hitting the top of the charts, even if it is with 8k sales, and he thinks it's everyone else's fault he's not at no.1

the irish seem to hate him even more then the english
Rocketman is in at nó 20 and it's been plugged non stop so 27 is decent considering morrissey has had no airplay in Ireland that I've heard.
Morrissey is always welcome in Ireland and from what I saw in Manchester s Picadilly records today, his album is in the window and his poster for California Son is on the wall inside. So much for the vociferous naysayers.
More airplay gets you chart position so somebody loves him in Ireland considering he's had none.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned how naff and cheap the inlay on the CD is........dunno about the LP but an advert for Moz's "Classics for Pleasure"...........who designed this shit?

Morrisseys reaction on the guardian article is nonreflective and always being in the victim´s role.

I like his art much, love The Smiths, but his political expressions are disturbing and out of question.

As a fan I can´t tolerate everything. The music of the smiths stands for tolerance, inclusion, anti-autoritarism and non-hate.

These days it´s Johnny Marr who stands for this values (and always has !).

Everyone ist free to go to Morrissey- concerts, hear his music. There is a lot of great stuff, but after supporting an right - wing -fascist - party I want to say it in these words: "It´s over!"

We certainly hope not.

Yours,
Soviet Britain.
Why play in a country where so many people dislike you?

Dislike you though most know very little about you.

Morrissey is a racist!
Who said he was? I read it in the news!

Dumb Britain with an IQ that is lowering every day.

I idealized the UK when I was a teenager in the 80s. All the cool bands and fashion came from the UK. So so sad to see where it ended up. Globalism? What moron thought that was a good idea.

No need to idolise a country. Also you was a teenager with limited access to information.

My mum loves Italy - but only the Italy of her imagination in which beautiful people swan around in designer clothing and have passionate arguments in the sun shine while living a life of luxury by the sea.

My mum doesn’t love the Italian car mechanic who lives in a house smaller than ours, with a suitcase of stolen underwear under his bed and the porno on his laptop.

Real people in the U.K. are all behind Morrissey? Regardless of what he does or says?

And real people of the U.K. are all supportive of gay marriage? Meaning people who are against gay marriage are not real people of the U.K. but androids of some kind?

Please stop using the term “real people” folks - it is like an intern at The Daily Mail wrongly claiming all “real people of the U.K. adore Princess Anne”. It makes you sound stupid.

I’ve yet to be stunned by a photo of a reality TV celeb The Daily Mail describes as “Stunning”. I am pretty real, I think.

“The music of the smiths stands for tolerance, inclusion, anti-autoritarism and non-hate.“

Unless it’s tolerance and inclusion for a different opinion on immigration taxes social spending military spending etc. anti authoritarianism except for posters being taken down from a public space for proclaiming a future vote in a democratic process. Non hate unless they decided to leave the eu which then makes them deserving of public shaming attempts incivility name calling and mass protest. People would say well we can accept things/people and there ideas but not if they’re harmful to society as it stands. Not if it’s bigoted people with bigoted beliefs that are willing, even just a willing few, who might act out with violence. That group should face scrutiny wariness resistance and not be allowed all of the things you say the smiths stand for. Amusingly this is what many people would argue makes Islam a thing to be rejected as it to is full of bigoted authoritarian beliefs with some members willing to act violently (just like people in political groups). It seems like many smiths fans want to reject right wing groups or right wing people in general and exclude them from tolerance inclusion and civility for many of the same reasons they find objectionable in Islam. It’s worth thinking about
