He referred to them in an interview and opened of his concerts by claiming that it took a nation of "squillions" to hold him and his band back.

That was me, and someone else here wrote that these SER PSs should not be posted on the main page. I wasn't so sure, but now I am in complete agreement. The inmate(s) are clearly running the TTY asylum. TTY used to dole out posts like the desert doles out water, but now the flood gates are opened full blast, and the water quality has become polluted.
Some version of a sieve needs to be implemented here in order to sort the wheat from the chaff. Something like if it is not a direct statement from Moz, related to his touring, or personally related to him, then it doesn't make it on the main page. For the love of God...someone step up to the plate and employ this SER so he has something to do with his time besides assaulting our eyeballs!

I imagine the objection is not that there's a Public Enemy reference on TTY, but that, intentionally or otherwise, the image draws a comparison between the racial tensions PE were addressing with the album and Morrissey's lack of label interest, suggesting that Morrissey is viewed by the world at large in the same way blacks historically have been, or that the two issues are of equal importance. Personally, I think it's giving Sam too much credit to assume that this is the intent behind the image (the lack of care in the execution of any of his image manips does not give the idea that much thought or effort is put into them), but it is very easy to read into it and pick up on some unfortunate implications.
I don't know about influence, but he has stated that he appreciates the politically charged nature of their music, despite not being a fan of hip-hop or rap.

I'm confused as to how this qualifies as a 'photomontage'. He doesn't even seem to have altered the original image, just changed one word of text? Are we going to get a series of re-titled classic album covers now?
