Congratulations to Ireland

The people, once again, teach the church. The people, once again, teach the politicians.

Now, Ireland, please abolish fur farms and factory-farming and transportation of live animals, and welcome yourself completely into the 21st century.

Morrissey

Sydney, Australia.
Bit rich coming from a man that never before backed the gay community and never stood proud about his sexual preference but good on him to finally leave that closet.

Welcome to Sweden and Eurovision 2016 as the Great Britain representative cause only Sweden truly acknowledge you.

All very tedious.
Most of his formative years were in a climate of 'queer' bashing, 'pooftas' and negative views continually towards openly gay people. Even with homosexuality being decriminalised in the 60's (and no longer seen as a mental illness), the negativity and lack of acceptance continued well in to the 80's before people 'outed' themselves in greater, more open ways.
It is totally understandable why someone might never feel comfortable defining their sexuality given their socialisation and some of their idols and influences. The logical conclusion to more open times is not that everyone suddenly shouts their sexual choice out and expects acceptance. Besides a lot of places not being as liberal and accepting as they would like you to believe, there are probably thousands of people with Moz's reserved, non-disclosing mentality kicking round. He has an absolute right to be as vague as he likes and he can even make a statement about Ireland if he likes - whatever his tastes.
People who think otherwise are just arguing for the sake of it.
Kind regards,
FWD

Well i can't call that slagging. I just asked punksalute why he assumes that Morrissey would give twinkle a tribute
He did not do It for viv , and it came a both harsh because. Yes i think: Morrissey this people have given you so much inspiration and not even a slight nod? Yet bacall gets one and she has not been half as influential as them. Its a pet peeve of mine when people completely disregards those who was been quite influential to one
he might have personal internal reasons feelings that add to an equation that you don't know of that influence what he does just like everyone else

Well its alright that he did one for bacall, but i belive viv and twinks meant more to him. They deserved it more. Also i sort of think Morrissey mentioned bacall because of her status and the fact that she is more famous and popculture than viv and twinks. Also to be able to Segway into Robin Williams death and state this opinion. Then again i don't live in morrisseys head.

which is why its hard to know who means more to him or why he did anything. its also sorta important to note that how he feels that day or any day etc about something unrelated could make him more expressive or not or influence any decision he makes. maybe he makes his more personal and more important tributes among his friends and you just don't see the tributes that mean more to him

According to Simon Goddard he fell out with Viv Nicholson and she felt she had been "excommunicated". Don't know why, but it could be because she made Rough Trade withdraw the Headmaster Ritual CD single with her on the sleeve.

Yeah--this is real good. Supporting some sick activity that people claim to be natural just because more people are CHOOSING to act this way.

DISGUSTING.
You probably have sex with the lights out and for the sole purpose of reproduction.

Yeah right i have forgotton about. I just recently started to read songs that saved your life but i had read that before. I guess no post on tty makes sense. Morrissey is not the forgiving type at all sometimes :( It feels rotten. I saw pictures of viv and Morrissey together and they looked so comfortable together

hes just not as revealing as people think or expect him to be. for sure not motivation wise. I imagine moz is a complicated person and just tired of explaining all the time to people he probably doesn't care to much about

Well thats not true completely, he constant posts his opinions about the royals and animals and his has recently poster tributes on tty for Joan rivers, bacall, attenborough. He just did not want to do one for viv and twinkle, he has propably his reasons. He constanly utters his views and explain his music and theorys about mankinds mentality
Plus the morrissey not caring part is harsh :( i belive he cares

he posts stand alone statements and speeches that I think are only part of his beliefs leaving people to assume usually incorrectly the rest. if he really wanted to say his thoughts completely would it take a lot of time and space and I don't really think he believes that most people are capable of even taking it in or understanding and in the end probably just doesn't want to. sure he wants to influence and stimulate but I don't think he really wants to expose and reveal himself mostly because I think he believes it a dead end\ and a waste of his time. hell do that in song

Well its not really the case of him not wanting to reveal himself or him not willing to explain himself to deaf ears, its more about the fact that he took the time to post tributes to people like bacall insted of twinkle and viv, when it seemed that they meant more to him. But you can't really know what someone means to him really

I think the obvious is over looked. Morrissey felt ashamed because he was attracted to men because of his Catholic upbringing. Hope this helps him heal a bit, he is too good of a person not to live a full life and not be shut in a hotel room.

We don't know what he does in his private life. He may have a thriving sex life but lies to the media to stay mysterious or private.

or perhaps the disapproval of having his catholic family that raised him be shamed or feel bad about them. typical issues and conflicts to deal with when young. obviously I think he came out of it well

This started out as post about Morrissey showing his support for ireland. It ended up being full of the same drivel as usual. "Oh Morrissey is ashamed/afraid to come out as, Morrissey should be ashamed to show his support when he can't come out as gay, Morrissey is lying about himself to fool media and his fans and his still ashamed of being attracted to men because of his catholic upbringing"

Morrissey is not ashamed of nothing. He has refused to fall into existing categorys and he had embraced just being label free.
But Morrissey being the good guy, came out with the humasexual statment to help the broken record, stuck in their ways fans, understand who he is. And they still bagger him and call him a liar.

I say to Morrissey i hope you stop wasting your time or intellect trying to reach out to people.

well mine said it was an issue I think he had when he was young, read as before the smiths even formed, that he got over and dealt with and came out of it just fine. how can you forge an identity with no struggle? do I think moz had no struggle at all with the issue when he first looked at it within himself, well no I don't. that would be weirdly inhuman and as a person with a psychology background I just don't believe that. he clearly loves his mother and if his mother was truly a catholic she probably had some feelings about this which can cause conflict in the young. they both probably got over it. I do think this conversation a little tedious and pointless though. I mean aren't you the one who was talking about tributes to someone. Ireland? seriously, you just sound like a passive aggressive version of brummies "debating" style but I could be wrong. either way ill leave you to it and just talk to others.

The Irish guy 2 ahead of me in the queue at the book signing was trying to get Morrissey to sign the ballot. the conversation went on for quite some time. I don't know what was said though.

Why should Morrissey be obligated to back the gay community. Maybe thats not how he sees himself? Also i belive that if he ever became "active" in the LBGT, that people still would have busted his balls calling him a fake for not coming out as completely homosexual. Can't you people accept that Morrissey has no intrested in being that immersed in the LBGT movement and that he does not identify himself as homosexual. He identifys himself as humasexual and his cause is peta. I'm frankly shocked that people and the LBGT community can't see the shades of grey. Not everyone is either bi or gay or pan. I'm shocked about the intolerance i see here. Morrissey will never march in any Pride parade. Please don't see it as denial just because you think its a given he is fully homosexual. Let him be free. Don't think you know who he is
As far as I'm concerned, even the ridiculous acronym "LGBTQRSTUVWXYZ" itself is a farce. Why should any of those groups of people be forced to represent each other group in the first place?

Mainstream representations of sexual orientation are pretty fucked up. If you are not heterosexual and especially if you choose to label yourself with any word in particular, you become a circus act rather than a human being and there is no turning back. (As an aside, there is no logical reasoning to the order of the letters nor any logic to grouping together sexual orientations and genders).

Also, the word "gay" as a signifier has very negative connotations. When one hears the word "gay", it signifies a particular lifestyle, not a simple sexual orientation of a human being, but rather once identified as gay, one is generally defined accordingly as: carefree, licentious, promiscuous, loud, colourful etc. We all know the stereotypes. If you are gay, you are expected to be an extroverted, hypersexualized, flamboyant comedy act and you essentially discard your humanity as you assume the label.

There is a major rift and distinction that I believe exists and needs to be made between the words "gay" and "homosexual". They clearly do not signify the same thing. Regardless of Morrissey's exact sexual preference, it is no wonder that he would prefer to avoid any labels, especially labels that signify clear misrepresentations to him as a person. I would do the same, and I do do the same.

I don't know why it is never noted that most homosexuals, like most human beings, are not extremely extroverted narcissists who discuss who they fucked last night loud enough for the entire cafe to hear.

I mean seriously, we all know that Morrissey is largely introverted. He doesn't want to talk about it. It's really not worth overanalyzing. Morrissey does not need to change, the expectations society seems to have about non-heterosexuals need to.
