Is the exclusion of solo Paul Weller deliberate? I think a few of his solo albums are really good.

Only because his solo stuff wouldn't crack the Top Ten. I did like "Stanley Road" and others quite a bit. But I don't think it holds a candle to The Jam. Would you agree?

I find them hard to compare, to me it's a bit like The Smiths and Morrissey. I like Stanley Road and Wildwood a lot, maybe as much as anything from the Jam. I like the fact that, like Morrissey, his lyrical content "aged" with him and he's singing from the different perspective now.
