You should continue with your list of left outs, because that list, so far, is looking far better than the ones who made the cut.

Mindy, didn't you post a message like two weeks ago saying you heard Belle & Sebastian for the first time? And that quickly they make your Top 10? Or do I have you confused with somebody else?

Re: in no special order

i was grasping at straws. there are only so many bands that i like and that i have enough albums of to form a fair opinion (i have three b&s ones). mind you, it took the smiths about 30 seconds to become my favorite band. in any case, my list changes daily. if i were to make the list today, i'd probably take off r.e.m. and add the beatles or something.

I don't listen to anything else, truly., but I do like...

Gen is the only other band I do listen to on a regular basis. I love his writing and how he uses his gorgeous voice. They are even better live, I think, than on any cd.

I also like Suede, Pulp, and Belle & Sebastian. I listen to them once in a great while. And I can listen to and enjoy Tom Waits, Ani Difranco, The Cure, REM, U2, The Sheila Divine, and Counting Crows, but I would never put on a cd and listen to them myself. I see no point in listening to anything I don't love, no matter how "good" it is by musician standards or ability. I can listen to the radio while I am working or driving because I am not concentrating on it, it's all just background noise. When i really want to concentrate on music, it's only Moz (more so than The Smiths) or Gene that will do.
Call me narrowminded, it's my truth.
