If this has been brought up earlier I'm sure someone will move it for me.

The media coverage has been of the highest sycophantic shit ever, ahts off to the Labour spin machine (admittedly I've watched the Beeb's coverage mainly)

"Hand on my heart, I did what was best for the country" re: Iraq

Um excuse me you haven't got a heart.

His achievements.....

Northern Ireland, started off by Major.
Minimum wage, a token gesture. Should have been put at a level which would have actually changed people's lives.
Income per person grew by 2.4%. Amd how much did inflation increase per year?
Education? Haven't a clue. See they didn't abolish student loans though.
NHS? What a mess.

10 years of nothingness.

Blair's greatest achievement? Making the country apathetic to politics.

and given Rory Bremner a nice career!

Education, I can enlighten you. The National Curriculum was started by the tories, and was made more managable (though still not worth the paper it was printed on) in 1999. In 1998/99 they introduced the Primary Literacy and Primary Numeracy stratergy which are the biggest pile of toss ever. They cam with a clock that you were supposed to teach by, with 15 minutes for a mental warm up, 35 minutes for a task and 10 minutes for a plenary for numeracy and similar for literacy. They did not work with the national curriculum and were disgustingly perscriptive. Most teachers kinda just cheated and adapted them unless they were being inspected. The only good thing was the Foundation Stage Curriculum for 3-5 which is child friendly and good to teach. In 2003, they made this document called Excellence and Enjoyment, supposed to inspire confidence in the government and make us all see how much they cared about children. Only it doesn't work with any of the other documents. Things are a bit better now, but I'll give him 'education, education, education'. He closed loads of special needs schools to try and save money, brought in stupid, unworkable doccuments and insists on making children sit ridiculous written tests and publishing the results! Nob. I'd like to see him come and teach my class for the day.(Mind you, don't suppose anyone else will be better)

The best thing about Blair's reign is it kept the tories out of office.

We really would have had more to complain about if they had continued their destruction of the country.

But don't mistake me for a New Labour fan, I'm still waiting for the glorious days of revolution.
Me, Kumoan, Kewtypie, Winker, The Judge and Slummum1974 on the front line.

VIVA!!

The past ten have been no better or worse if it had been labour or conservative.

We would of still been in iraq.

hospitals in a mess.

lack of affordable housing.

etc etc etc

No they're all the same. We would have probably helped bomb Al-Jazeera with the Tories though!

Sometimes I wish I was French, they still seem to care about ideology and politics. And they eat nice food.

You obviously missed the recent French election result then.....

I think us American's got good laughs from him on the weekly Parliament program.

where the f*** was his oh-so-principled "war on terrorism" when it was needed? where the f*** were his "ethics" when he was surrendering my country (and any semblance of democracy) to a shower of backward-minded, murdering, maiming, cowardly bastards (at least, one of whom looks like charlie drake)?

hypocritical, scummy c***.

(sorry... raw nerve etc.)

No I didn't. And the result was a bit merde.

But there was a real battle between left and right. What do we get nowadays? Sweet FA apart from unelected Prime Ministers (same as it ever was but noones even contesting him in a leadership election apart from Meacher and some other bloke who are struggling to get 45 nominations) and a political system so anachronistic that noone can be arsed anymore.

Exactly. My mother, (former socialist protest marcher) a life long member of the labour party, was so disgusted by his bahaviour she risigned from the party and wrote them a shitty letter telling them why. (If you knew my mother, the fact that she had a) got round to writing the letter and b) got round to posting it is serious pissed off behaviour)

Thats cos Blair likes Charlie Drake.

A career in vaudeville awaits... look at that side-splitting Catherine Tate sketch on Comic Relief. And as our Moz said he's turning into Larry Grayson

Oh and Northern Ireland doesn't have any oil reserves

*cough*
Although I live in UK, I don't have a right to vote.
I don't give up my nationality for it.

I also would like to point out that Kumo, now Kyoko is a right wing supporter (who audaciously stupidly calls my country using fascist term  ), not on your side, mate.

Fair enough. Yes, there was a true battle in France.
So I wasn't wrong... but possibly not as right as I could have been.

I didn't choose people I thought were 'on my side'. Just a list of funny names that came into my head.

Nice to know you're ready for the great leap forward though.
