This Pope makes the last seem like a moderate!

I don't care about the Catholic Church. I'm merely annoyed that the media is continuing to act like an infomercial for the Catholic Church. I realize that most of these cable news hosts seem to be Catholics (O'Reilly, Mathews, Buchanan, Hannity, etc), as if there's a Catholic cabal taking over my TV. But most Americans are NOT Catholics.

Putting that aside, I must say my heart went out to Catholic and homosexual blogger Andrew Sullivan's posted reactions as his church chose an even more homophobic Pope than the last. www.andrewsullivan.com

It's not a nice church. Its leaders are not nice people.

Hopefully this will be the death of it in the West.

Adrew Sullivan, you're far too good for that bullshit. Get out. Fast.

yeah but there is also the notion that the cardinals favored this pope b/c of his age, hoping he would serve as a brief transitional pope while pope john paul II's legacy is absorbed, and before appointing a younger one who would make significant changes.

Oh, I hadn't heard that. This makes sense -- he is 78. How much longer can he live?

Seems like lots of people are living to 100 these days. Leno had one on last night!

Yes, I caught a glimpse of that program.

Regina is on tomorrow. (You told me so).

I know that you will be watching.

I hope I live to 100.

Sometimes I worry they'll figure out how to tweak some ageing gene to make life expectancy rise to 200 or something...right AFTER our generation dies.

Ah yes, sweet Regina tomorrow night. I like her album even more today than I did last week. I also found out that people like to give her flowers during her performances. See, she really SHOULD open for Morrissey!

Sunday night I played her song about someone with cancer who wants to ride around in style in a limo rather than go through chemo ("Chemo Limo"), and I had the TV muted on C-Span. Senator Arlen Spector came on my screen, and he's lost his hair and has blood shot eyes and other sad effects of his cancer treatment.

Regina SPEKTOR singing a song about cancer. Arlen SPECTOR on my tv screen suffering from cancer treatment. WEIRD!!!

Weirder still -- Sunday night, I had a terrifying dream that I went to the dentist and the x-rays revealed that I had cancer in my upper jaw. It had metastisized to my throat. I was looking at the film in my dream. I then tried to find my family and tell them. But, I couldn't find them. I woke-up very shaken.

Maybe it is because of Peter Jennings being in the news. I am not sure.

BTW, I posted a pic as a joke down further. But now, the link seems to be broken. It was a cool pic of Ewan McGregor smoking a cigarette. It was nothing mean.

Re: Wanted - Youth

Wasn't there another thread about this?
anyway, not an expert on the subject but apparently the pope then
wasn't a saint (no pun intended) about all this. as for the new one,
the fact that he was in the hitler jugend in those days really
doesn't make him a nazi. just my 2 pence worth.

I'm confused. I'll have to find this thread and see what you're talking about.

I'm sorry...the other night I only looked at the top few threads on the list, I never scrolled down further because I was real tired.

Oh don't bother (nervous bite to lip).

I was just in one of those funky moods, lol.
