This might upset a few, or possibly most of you on here, but I thought his top ten was shit!

Apart from Billy Fury and the Tams "Be young be foolish and be happy"
Otherwise...utter crap!
When it started with "Be young", I was really hoping for some Tamla Motown influence etc...but no....utter shite
I shall post my top ten and you will see what I mean.

I tend to agree...Morrissey's choices in great music are not what I'd choose either. But I guess those that "can do" have a different look on things that those of us who wish we could.

Most of the music that Morrissey promotes or speaks highly of (except his own) I tend to find unlistenable. I didn't think much of his top ten nor of the Under the Influence songs. Nor elephunt, or franc (or is/was it phranc?)...

I agree with you. I would never listen to those songs for pleasure. Maybe his choices are the product of his age and geographical location. They just seem so obscure.

Thank God someone is at least honest on here...

Thank you my friend, his taste in music is well...obviously his alone...though most of the moronic following follow...simply because it is his!!!

If you follow???

Thank you too.
Nothing to do with his age or geographical location however.
I am the same age and came from the same region but I had never heard most of the crap he played.
I think he said his Mum played some of them, thankfully my Mum was into Dean Martin and Elvis etc.....maybe his mum was more "pseudo-intellectual" and played a load of crap.

(HA HA)

Yeah, I grew-up listening to Buddy Holly, Elvis, and The Who. I had 45's and a little record player as well. I just listened to different tunes. Maybe it was his mother's tastes that initially influenced him, like you said.

Most people's top ten will be obscure though won't it? Especially if they are a real pop music buff. It's a very personal thing. You can't say it's crap because it's not the top ten you would have chosen.

Yes I can, and I have.

I think my top ten would be more eclectic than obscure -- ranging from Simon and Garfunkel to The Who.

Maybe his mum had too much influence on him, that is why he navigated to oddities like Nomi, the NY Dolls, Jobriath and such.
And why he was disinterested in sex for so long. Maybe mum left a bad taste in his mouth - so to speak. just a thought

OOh a little near the knuckle there, don't you think?
Then again, Daddy had disappeared hadn't he?
How many bedrooms in the house?
