As you already know the link for the pre sale of Lollapalooza tickets was not working correctly. We have been dealing with the folks at Lollapalooza to get it fixed and they seem to have figured out the problem. Please click http://lopz-le.clearchannel.com/tickets.html to access the pre sale. Both Morrisseymusic.com and Lollapalooza.com sincerely apologise for any confusion.

Cheers,

Where/what the hell is Randall's Island, Ghoul?

Randall’s and Wards Island Park is a 480-acre island in the East River, bumped up against the South Bronx, with Astoria, Queens to the east and East Harlem to the west. It is crossed by the huge Triborough Bridge complex, as well as by the active Hell Gate railroad line. A true island, pedestrian access is via a footbridge from 103rd Street in Manhattan (open April 1 through October 30) and via pedestrian paths along the three spans of the Triborough Bridge. Public buses and private automobiles access the Island via the Triborough Bridge; there is no subway access.

Today’s Park is actually a combination of both Randall’s and Wards Islands. In the 1930’s, Parks Commissioner Robert Moses connected the two islands with landfill as a first step toward his vision of making the island into a grand park and recreation center. In 1936, Downing Stadium was completed, giving New Yorkers a major spot for track meets and other competitive sporting events. Beginning with the 1936 Olympic Trials –at which Jesse Owens won the 100-meters – the Park has hosted an amazing variety of events, including Duke Ellington concerts, Pelé’s debut with the New York Cosmos, and a range of cultural and music festivals.
