The Smiths complete studio sessions (2022 version)

What are the World Peace era « French mixes »?

Never seen.
Possibly one of the takes of the tracks concerned mixed in France, but the product and music never surfaced.
They managed a listing on Amazon, so almost came close.
Regards,
FWD.

Suedehead (Peel session 1988)
Margaret On The Guillotine (Peel session 1988)
Ordinary Boys, Ordinary Girls (Peel session 1988)
If these even still exist, these are my Holy Grail of lost recordings - I'd love to know what was so bad about them that Morrissey forbid them to be broadcast.

I hope and believe that someone could find it interesting to have this informations at hand all together.
If anyone finds any inaccuracies or omissions, please let me know. Thank You.

An interesting anecdote from Moz, which leaves me wondering (again) why he chose and persisted with such poor musicians, even though they did improve. A man of his status, choosing a band that actually embarrassed him - it's bizarre.
Power isn't it?
M is like one of those people who goes out with people way beneath him in looks and or money/success. That was he has more control

I always thought this . I always thought why the feck can't he write with Bernard Butler or Jeff Beck or Peter Hook or who the feck ever
Then a couple of people pointed out, with M its more about having people he feels safe with. one person said
It could be a power play, if he had people like Johnny or Bernard Butler or whoever, he wouldn't be able to have the power he does over the likes
of Boz or Alain, who will never be known for being great songwriters, not really.
The older I get the more I think that's true. Its like the way he has bad support bands often, its the ugly best-mate syndrome.

I think it's a control thing, but it still doesn't make much sense. I understand that "star guitars" like Johnny get noticed and poached by other bands, they start sessioning etc and he didn't want that happening to him again. But surely there is a line between looking for competent, ordinary musicians who won't steal the limelight and having an actual pub band who show you up in front of producers and journalists. Thankfully they did improve but people like Spencer - they were never good enough to work with him, really.

Too true mate. My wife (2nd) met spencer when he was with some band in NY. She said he seemed unhinged. LOL
I always wished he would be with some really skilled people.

They were part of an authentic Rockabilly scene. I think he was attracted to the passion.
Yeah, probably. Not sure it was the best career decision though - what good is passion if they can't play? He lost opportunities (and probably spent longer without a deal than he would have liked) as a result of that 90s line-up. The band is much better today.
