Hmm, shall I download it? I'm tempted to see what Johnny Marr has done, but I doubt he's done much *ponders*

Already downloaded from newalbumreleases.net, are the quality of these rips any better?

Ideally looking for lossless or 320kbps, but that's not shown up yet.

Can't afford the set yet, so this'll have to do.

I've downloaded them and they will replace my "old" smiths albums. Just by listening to "The Smiths", you can tell Marr has tried his best to somehow polish their terribly produced debut album.

Think I'll just go get the CD set tomorrow, it's not too expensive :)

Plus, sick of waiting round for 320's and FLAC sucks (in that it doesn't work on iTunes or Windows Media Player!)

you can convert them to 320 though

Well FLAC does not suck, Apple's Itunes design only allows lossless from their own codec, Apple Lossless.

FLAC media can be played on a number of apps, like foobar2000:

http://www.foobar2000.org/download

or you can try this from the official flac codec page (a filter that might work under Windows Media Player):

http://flac.sourceforge.net/documentation_tasks.html (look under the heading titled, "Windows")

and yes, DEMONOID has the complete set in FLAC format:

http://www.demonoid.me/files/details/2743762

and DEMONOID has the set in mp3 format too, in V0 (~256 vbr):

http://www.demonoid.me/files/details/2744328/5829856/

(by the way, 320 is CBR and it doesn't always have better clarity then say a VBR set, but I'm not here to argue that, because I got the set in FLAC)

Very much appreciated...

Where is the outrage?

what outrage? Morrissey told us not to spend a penny on this box set!!:D

No - he didn't.

It is interesting that he distanced himself from the release, but didn't ask / tell us not to buy it.

Morrissey would also like to stress that he has no association with the Warner release called 'The Smiths Complete'. This project has taken place without any consultation to Morrissey, and without any approach to Morrissey from either Warner, Rhino, or Johnny Marr. Therefore, Morrissey has no knowledge of the remixes, and has had no input in the project.

This is different to the Hollywood Bowl DVD or the Singles Boxed Sets that he urged us not to buy

Dave

It's interesting now to re-read Morrissey labeling the Hollywood Bowl DVD as "slapdash".

Exactly what does he think the "Very Best Of" compilation he authorized from earlier this year is? Didn't he just put out a Greatest Hits album in 2008, which in itself was the third Morrissey best-of in its kind?

I know he's notorious for repackaging his work, but holy mother of Christ.

He's got so many Greatest Hits albums, it's unbelivable....I wouldn't call Morrissey's 2008 Greatest Hits an actual good "Greatest Hits album" anyway because it only contains his newer songs. But then his "Very Best" only contains his early solo stuff....you can never win!

Didn't Johnny say he was in touch with the other 3 Smiths regarding the box-set? Wish we could get the true story on that.
