The Smiths A-Z: "Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me"

Have to say I never really got the appeal of this song. I think the introduction is way too long, and the actual song itself doesn't really develop much, just plods on mournfully. It feels very one note, even with Morrissey's falsetto and the guitar kicking in at the end. "I Know it's Over" was a much more nuanced ballad lyrically, sonically, and (for me, anyway) emotionally, too.

The favourite Smiths song of both Moz and Johnny and rightly so. A classic.
