    UPDATE:

The Radio Dept call out Morrissey on politically charged single “Going Down Swinging” (listen) - Brooklyn Vegan

    Excerpt:

The Radio Dept. have shared a new single, “Going Down Swinging.”

...Like usual, The Radio Department sing softly but carry a big stick, and the song contains the following verse:

    These church bells
    I love what they say
Nazis should be dealt with like in Normandie
Only inbreds join an alt right parade
Someone please tell that to Morrissey

Came across this today when pulling up Bowie’s Boys Keep Swinging. YouTube must have jumped in a “swinging” theme. Decided to give it a listen and discovered Moz reference in the lyrics.

Radio Dept - Going Down Swinging

    Church bells are ringing today
God is on the right side for once
We will go down swinging you say
Oh to die at the hands of a fascist dunce

    These church bells
    I love what they say
Nazis should be dealt with like in Normandie
Only inbreds join an alt right parade
Someone please tell that to Morrissey

    Going down swinging now
    Going down swinging now
    Going down swinging now

    Church bells are ringing today
God is on the right side for once
We will go down swinging you say
    But I never fought anyone
I just got beat up you see
Can't give that pleasure to a nazi devotee

    Going down swinging now
    Going down swinging now
    Going down swinging now

    Do the right thing now
    When you're in that moment
    Do the right thing now
In your heart you know it
    You're not fooling anyone
You know this is for real
We will go down swinging you see
Oh to die at the hands of the fascist dogs

Looking forward to Morrissey's diss track response...
There's lots of people they could be #outraged by for traffic and 'clicks'
      Has anyone hashtagged Keemstar?

"[...] The Swedish national election is coming up and that means we’re putting out a new single. What else could we do?

There are references to church bells in the lyrics, listeners from outside of Sweden might want to know this:

In May 2014 and on a couple of occasions since, churches in Sweden have been ringing their bells during nazi marches to warn the public. Before 2014 this hadn’t been done since 1939. Because of the huge problems we have with increasing racism in our country it is a very welcome gesture.

Personally we don’t believe in gods but we do believe nazis and their peers - however they choose to present or disguise themselves - should be dealt with like in World War II. [...]"

      Nazi, 'you beach body ready?
Come show me your yellow liver!
      I won't drown you in a river,
      That would pollute Normandy.

      You're welcome.

I find it odd that the NME keeps publishing the Morrissey-is-a-racist pro-boycott articles, often posting them right next to articles praising Kanye West. Kanye West, who so openly adores Trump his name may as well be Scott Baio. Kanye West, who defended American slavery, even went to great length to explain how the black slaves deserved everything they got.

Kanye's popularity hasn't suffered one drip, despite the fact he is Trump's Leni Riefenstahl. Meanwhile, Morrissey compared Trump's election to 9/11.

The French spelling is Normandie, just like the French spelling of Dunkirk is Dunkerque, so they're actually 100% right to spell it that way.

      After several listens, analysis:
Intro too long, they sound strung out on heroin, but the lyrics are pretty good, so I give it a C+ :guitar:

Not a bad song. Reminds me of early Depeche Mode mixed with Gary Numan. It's a free country so they can write and sing those lyrics. Personally I think name dropping Morrissey doesn't fit in the flow of the song and it feels a bit forced.

Yes it has that 80s synthesiser sound along with a dead and alive vocalist.
The lyrics are mediocre at best and the morrissey is a racist inference is jumping on the bandwagon when it's well and truly past. So over it!

Er, only if the song is in French. But the song is in English. So it's just a tad pretentious, no?

Not that Morrissey would ever bring himself down to the level of these prissy little lightweights, but he would easily destroy them if they ever got in to the fight that they are asking for in these terrible lyrics. At least they admit they'd be "going down." "Going Down Flitting" more like, though.
