The Professional by Pulp

The Professional is, indeed, a great track!! :)

If you have and could post "Street Lites" and/or "You're A Nightmare", that'd be great. Oh, and anything decent from the re-issued Pulp Albums (have yet to hear the extra tracks/demos etc).

more and more!

The greatest pulp song ever! anyone who hasn't heard this song must download this! it's a must..

I'm going to upload a great version of 'I Spy' on the main page for everyone..it's an absolute must!

Thankyou very much! These are great! MUCH better than the new Jarvis Cocker material, which I just can't really get into.

I don't s'pose there's a demo/out-take version of "Live On" kicking around, is there?

Thanks for these tracks!
The new jarvis album has really grown better and better every time I've listened to it, and my eldest boy (he's 5) loves it too!
I'm very happy with it - keep listening to it!

most morrissey fans i've talked to like pulp..

yes, I love pulp. but pulp don't like morrissey. I read a book about them and they say: we never could understand why the smiths got so big when they just kept doing the same thing over and over again, and morrissey has such a horrible voice.

There might have been some jealousy involved, as Pulp started at roughly the same time as The Smiths but didn't make it during the 80s.

In the early days, Jarvis's singing sounded as if someone was making a parody of Nick Cave and early Morrissey at the same time.

I second I am a Ghost's request -- I'm loving all these tracks, and would be extra thrilled to have The Professional. Thanks, freakparty, for sharing all this fantastic stuff with us! (And also soundofthenorth -- I'm listening to the Glasto gig as I type...)

Here's The Professional

Plus Cocaine Socialism - same tune as 'Glory Days' but better, imho.

I can't remember what project this was for, but it's Jarvis singing a maritime ditty entitled 'A Drop of Nelson's Blood':

Seems if you get Jarv smashed enough, he'll give you a poetry reading. Here's his take on Andrew Marvell's 'To His Coy Mistress'.

Finally, and sadly cut off at the end but it's the only version I have, is 'Set Controls for the Heart of the Pelvis'. ('Save me from my own hand', indeed. I love you Jarvis, you grubby little boy...)

And give the solo album time, people. It's a grower. :)

Wow, Cat's Mother, thanks so much for all these goodies. I've become a bit obsessed with Jarvis lately, and it's lovely to have more fodder. BTW, the Nelson's Blood tune comes from Rogue's Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs and Chanteys:

Rogue's Gallery

Interesting idea for an album, although 43 tracks of it might be just a tad much...
