The Official M-Solo Trip to the French gigs

with regard to your cheap motels - Formule 1 are as cheap as i have seen - they are plentiful in france and in the uk they are usually between 25 and 30 quid for a triple room ! thats £10 each per night . I imagine they are about the same en Francais . Hopefully I may see you (all) in far off places . Bon chance !

I wish you would

This is rather tempting. Flights are really cheap too. Getting time from work again, that will be hard.

Clairmont Ferrand is almost the French Alps, I even think it's a well know
place for skiíng in the winter

so Phil take snowchains in yer van

I remember the place cause every year the Tour de France do the Alps,
and that town is placed a lot on the routes of Alp ettappes

I could be wrong, very wrong

btw Stasbourg is on the French side of the German Scharz Wald, also
a lot of hills, so take a good Van [no it's the other German hillside park/
whole part of hill/mountain nature]

one thing, it's around a very nice part of French if you like nature

the venue is on rue Serge Gainsbourg!
& Clemont Ferrand is twinned with Salford!
enjoy the snow
so wishing i could make that one
remember to fling him a bigmouth t-shirt & dvd
see you soon

GULP:eek:
Oh, thanks for that, will have to check with Salford Van Hire if they have snow chains:confused:

Hhhmmmm looks like another plan may have to be hatched, I didn't ralise it was so far 'out of the way'. What a place fo a gig!

Any idea which airlines fly to Lille from up north? We can't find any!

Well I was listening to Radio 4 t'other day and they had a "battle" between train and plane from Leeds to Paris, to mark the re-opening of St Pancras etc etc (with John Betjeman statue)

With the amount of checking-in and all that jazz the trip allegedly took just a little longer via Eurostar/train. And the Eurostar goes directly to Lille. And its environmentally better.

i'm not really bothered about how long it takes, just the cost. I don't think I'll be able to afford it, but I thought I'd have a look around to see if there were any proper cheap flights. It was a nice dream anyway.

relax Phil, though it's in a hillside centered part of France its not in
the French Alps, it's near the famous Mont Ventoux, a rock/mountain
in the middle of nowhere, famous englishman biker Tommie Simpson died
there during the tour the France when they had to climb the Ventoux
Its in the Puy the Dome, a hillside province, one of the most beautifull
parts of France, bit mid south, not real south.
Yer lucky, cause Strasbourg is also in a very nice part of France, well
on the border of Germany.
Lille is on the border of Belgium/France, north. Grey industry town

but my message is, go witha good Van, but snowchains is not really
necesary though they could come handy, its januari and the weather in
wintertime can change rapidly

Enjoy the trip and the shows

Well I've managed to check my shift pattern (my new job proper starts in January) and the only London date I can do is the 21st. (I'm on nights for 3 of the dates!!?! And my only day off is on the Thursady. Couldn't Moz do an afternoon matinee performance or something? Or is that the soundcheck?

The good news is I can do Strasbourg and Lille. So I'm off there. And hope he does some more British dates

Et je peux parler un peu Francias. C'est vrai?

Thanks for that, I'm off to the library today to check out a good European atlas.
I've been to Strasbourg and Lille before - two years ago I saw Maximo Park / Kaiser Chiefs / Futureheads at the very same venue in Lille. A great venue it is too. All standing with a standing balcony too.

OK gang.
Back from the library.... wow what distances!
I'm up for doing all three gigs, certainly the latter two, but would need a co-driver. No way can I do all that in one go without a break, man of my age and all that...

So....any offers of another driver out there? (Preferably one who has passed their test:D)
