One Of The best Smiths B-sides...could have and should have been an A-Side...Got much more airplay here in LA..than Shelia Take A Bow did...It was in fact one of the most popular songs of 1987 here....

Am I the only one who thinks Morrissey "borrowed" bits of this song for Life Is A Pigsty...

"You can punch me and you kick me....and you can break my spine..."

"You can shoot me and you can throw me off a train......"

Very similar sentiments...

And don't forget that he crashed and broke his spine. ;)

This song is totally "Smiths-by-numbers" for me. Uninspiring both lyrically and musically. And isn't it really the same song as "Sheila Take A Bow" just with different lyrics? I always thought it was odd that they put them back to back on "Louder Than Bombs" - kind of supported the complaints that Smiths-haters had that "all of their songs sound the same". I give it a 7.

I've always loved this song, accidentally voted ten, but worth a 9

I voted 9 - I love this song.

...you say yes - (and you will change your mind)

Makes me laugh every time I hear it.

I agree, Comtesse -well said. Here's one song that never really did anything for me. I'm gonna 6 it.

Worth an 8 just for the line
"I lost my bag in Newport Pagnell"

Absolutely love it. Never fails to make me smile, some great lines and a hopelessly infectious tune.

Just to prove it, I couldn't help taking this picture on Sunday

Yes, it's similar to Sheila Take A Bow, which is a favourite of mine. It's a strange opening track for Louder Than Bombs. Sheila would have been a better opener. Maybe.

I can't help but laughing at the person who wrote Meat Is Murder singing "I got confused I killed a horse":D 8 from me
