No Comments on this one yet...??

Love this one...one of the best songs on The Quarry...Took me a long time to apppreciate this one..but now I like it better than I Like You, Crashing Bores, Jesus, or Let Me Kiss You....

I love the lyrics to this song, but the music is a little bit lacklustre and plodding I think. It just seems to drone on without really going anywhere. I like the sentiments though. I always thought it could have been symbolism for Morrissey's return to the music industry after the 7 year dry period and his feelings on his past and so on.

On returning
I can't believe this world is still turning
The pressure's on
Because the pleasure hasn't gone
And I---I
I'm not sorry for
For the things I've done..

Yep, I'm with Amy on this one. A nice lyric but a mediocre tune. The gratuitous flute solo doesn't help much either! Will vote 6 or 7.
BTW, the answer to your previous question was Kate Bush but .... each to his own (as they say)!

SORRY? SORRY? I'M NOT SORRY!
I LOVE this song so much.

It definately tells the story of my life, and I'm sure many's lives.
And it sounds magnifique live. :)

big fat 10

I love the flute solo...it's different from the trumpet and Trombone he's been using to death live lately....

The best part of the song is "The woman of my dreams...she never came...The woman of my dreams..well there never was one"

Very ambigious...and will probably lead to yet another round of discussion...

LOL
I really did read that as pretty homo, but alas, I don't have the energy to explain why, I think its pretty self explanatory..

In my life, the woman of my dreams, there never was one.....because there will never be one. I'm a man's man.

Thankyou dear :)

Oh...come on....surely you must like "Running Up That Hill"...... :D

Personally, I don't think Morrissey makes himself that obvious...

I've never had a woman of my dreams...In part because only my nightmares come to life

Yah, I know.
But I love how Morrissey allows you to make his songs your own, which is what I do with his songs.
I don't know if I'd love him as much if he didn't leave any space for that. You know?

Well yeah...Morrissey would be a crashing bore if he sang:

My Name Is Morrissey
And I am Gay-A-yay

Yep,

"I love spreading c***...and spreading my seed, oh my, I breed"

Isn't that what Gangsta rap is basically saying?

Hence it is absolutely dull and meaningless?

this is probably the worst of the worst.

after waiting seven years for an album, i remember listening to this, for the first time, and thinking, 'i really wish you would just slip below the fkn water line and not come back up'. it's actually worse than 'america is not the world', if that's possible.

it's unspeakably bad.

"The woman of my dreams, she... she never came along.
The woman of my dreams, well... there never was one."

This is one of my all time favourite lines. This song will never be on any 'all-time greatest' lists, but it works well on the album and there are times when I just sit and drift off to it, forgetting about everything else for five minutes.
