Whoever doesn't give this a ten should be banned from the board for being a complete c***.

Charmingly put, my friend!

I actually only fully appreciated this song when I heard the Smyths play it live. The musical dynamic is incredibly powerful; starts with just the bass guitar and a few softly strummed chords and then builds and builds.
As for the lyrics, well, they have probably been analysed to death!
But it's simply an absolute musical and lyrical master-class. In my top 3 Smiths songs.
Particulary good for single people to sing along to when they're feeling a little sorry for themselves; not that there are likely to be many of those round here!

who's the vulgar one now mister??? :p

but you know, there's always someone, somewhere who rates these songs incorrectly. someone wont "get it", or someone will claim its "overplayed" or something dumb like that.

not me though. its a TEN, duh.

You mean RadioBerlin?

Yes, but some songs are more beyond polling than others, and we have to know which song is the most beyond polling, and second etc :)

Seriously though, If you don't give there is a light... a ten you should be put on the sex offenders register.

This song is moving, witty and perfect.

I can't imagine anyone giving it anything other than a ten...though perhaps I might allow a 9 in case someone MEANT to click 10 but slipped. ;)

I'm to be banned and cursed and kicked.
Help yourself.

I cried the first time I heard this song. 10

Definately a 10. One The Smiths greatest songs, and a wonderfully sublime piece of art in it's own right. Love it to death.

this is the best song that mr. morrissey ever wrote. lyrically and musically, it is perfect.

could you please explain your reasoning behind not giving this song a perfect score? im quite curious.

I just know you meant to click 10 but your mouse slipped at the last second. ;)

Hypothetically speaking though, if you WERE to actually give this a 9 without slipping, what would keep it from being a 10?

Alas it was not a mistake. *ducks* I understand the theme of the song, but I fail to connect with it. I think it is perhaps too explicit. Perhaps like salt with salt.
Honestly, as soon as I learned how appreciated the song is, I became aware that I stand on the wrong side. There are some other songs, but I doubt I'll survive till them.

you are a disgrace to vegans everywhere....

If I gave MIM less than 10, I would be. Now I lost the support of the vegans, how shall I continue the battle on the milk thread?

To everybody: It takes guts to be gentle... *ouch*
