Hey Doug, how ya been??
For two years, this song was my favourite Morrissey solo song. The depressive nature of the lyrics seem to be lightened by the brilliant guitar riff. Me and my friend sang this to each other when we left school (Sad, I know!)

Great Riff...Excellent Lyrics...WHY HASN'T THIS ONE EVER BEEN PLAYED LIVE???

SERIOUSLY, He Played Little Man, What Now...why not this one??

REJECTION IS ONE THING BUT REJECTION FROM A FOOL IS CRUEL....

Perhaps the best one-line of his career....

Thanks Morrissey for making breakups so much easier to cope with... :D

"Rejection is one thing, but rejection from a fool is cruel....
And I don't mind if you forget me
I don't mind if you forget me..."

Beautiful!

I genuinely believe this would have been a hit, had it been released as a single.

Morrissey seems to hate it though, which is a great shame.

And we can all relate with this line:

"So now you send me your hardened 'regards'
When once you'd send me love"

SO TRUE!

A big fat 10 for me.

I don't like the guitar at the end, and if I were rejected by a fool I wouldn't care. Those two points knock this down to an 8 for me.

I think the point of that line..is it is cruel for anyone to ever be involved with a fool, let alone be rejected by one....

The pressure to change and move on was strange and very strong
So this is why I tell you I really do understand
Bye Bye

brilliant lyrics and a great little tune. one of my favorites. 10

the "bye bye" cracks me up. This is a companion piece to Rubber Ring, You Know I Couldn't Last, Paint A Vulgar Picture, Golden Lights, ummmmmm.....

and more!

I'm guessing that Dave would Ask Morrissey why he's never played it, if he ever got handed the mic..

I've always interpreted this line as being that the person is a fool for rejecting you. I think it's more effective that way.

if dave did ask, i think steve would reply, "none of these fuckwits would even begin to know how to recreate the guitar part".

At Last, I Am Born
"So now you send me your hardened regards, when once you'd send me love.
Sincerely I must tell you
Your mild best wishes, they make me suspicious"

Just brilliant.

The person who gave this song a 1 (or any Morrissey song a 1) needs to be tarred and feathered and laughed off the forum
