While we wait for the new album to arrive, let us go about rating the songs we know, on a daily basis, and compile our own Morrissey/Smiths Top 100.

I gave this a 9. I LOVE THIS SONG! It's a shame that has gone uncompiled to this point. Great voice, well-written song that fits Moz perfectly! :)

As it's only a cover of the Herman Hermits song, and not his original, I give this a 5, not awful, but not a song, I grab very often and play.

Did you already cover "The Draize Train", or did you miss it? Taking into account that one ignores "The" and "A" etc in the title. I didn't see the song, I may have just missed it?

The Draize Train isn't a song, it's an instrumental. Oh, and by the way, East/West is Bloody/Awful.

Yes, I know it's instrumental, but a instrumental is still considered a song. I would expect to see it, just as I expect to see "Oscillate Wildly" down the road.

The polls are Top 100 Smiths/Morrissey songs, but there are more than 100 songs of them.
Are the Top 100 taken from the earlier polls done by Johan last year?

You didn't miss it, otherwise you would see it on the list above.
It's just that I chose not to ignore 'A' and 'The' in the title, hence we opened with A Rush And A Push.

The idea is to compile a Smiths/Morrissey Top 100 from all the songs, which indeed are more even than 200, so the idea is that we have a top 100 by the end of the year.
Why Top 100? Because it somehow sounds better than a Top 235 or
whatever.
So less than half of the songs we've covered so far are actually going to make the final Top 100.

And yes, Johan - and Kuiper - came up with the idea, so thanks to them.

Another of Morrissey's many stellar covers. I agree with a journalist who once said this song sounds like it was written for Moz. The sentiment is beautiful and Morrissey sings it with his typical gorgeous melancholy. It's a shame this one is ignored. I gave it an 8.
