Ooh, I love this song! It's flipping gorgeous!
It's probably the Morrissey or Smiths song that I find myself strumming, if not humming, the most; a really pleasing chord sequence and a lovely flute part.
Can't understand why this song is greeted with indifference by so many.

'Further into the fog I fall'; must be one of the most pleasingly alliterative, opening lines in the entire Mozologue!

Indeed, I have to agree, a wonderful line sung quite beautifully!

Yes I agree, I think it's an underrated song, the line "I've changed but I'm in pain" gets me every time.

This song is good, but its not a 10, nor a 9, nor an 8.
Many other songs are though, but not this one.

Its a solid 7.

I'm really new to this song and I find it catches me at unusual moments. More than once I've woken up with it going around in my head!

Yes its one of those songs I still find myself singing or humming about xx years of the act!!

Lyrically UP THERE I would say.....

Certainly a nice tune and an essential track on Viva Hate.

I think this is one of the songs that Morrissey was talking about when he said, "There's at least six tracks on [Viva Hate] that I'd now willingly bury in the nearest patch of soil. And place a large stone on top." Embarrassingly bad lyrics and slight music... yet, somehow, somehow, I still find something appealing about it. I think it's the vulnerability that Morrissey portrays in this song - that's the thing I miss the most in his later solo work. I especially like the rough outtakes. I give it a 6.
