While we wait for the new album to arrive, let us go about rating the songs we know, on a daily basis, and compile our own Morrissey/Smiths Top 100.
And instead of chronologically, let's do them alphabetically.

Simply brilliant. An awfully sad song, but beautiful just the same. "Drinking tea with the taste of the Thames, sullenly on a chair on the pavement, that's where you'll find, my thought and I". That imagery just fills me with such a sense of.. Englishness(?) and patriotism for some reason. He has a way with words, indeed :) 9

Oh God. Sorry to confuse the voting but I just listening to the song again and I'm actually crying, so it should be a whacking great 10 from me, but sadly I've already voted :( .

And here is the very last plea from my heart, forevermore...
Where taxi drivers never stop talking
Under slate-grey Victorian sky
Here you'll find
Despair and I

I think my heart has just broken :o

Morrissey... I love you.

9+
There is something I wanted to tell you
it's so funny you'll kill yourself laughing
but then I, I look around
and I remember that I am alone

Awfully true. And just listen to the rest of the song all gagged. And when the song is over, turning around: There is something I wanted to tell you...
Oh well...

I as thinking you had lost your mind a little with the 9 lol!
anything less than that though would be utter madness!

*frowns at the "new" person*

Sorry, but the song bores me to tears. I thought I was being generous.

Mind me asking where you're from?? No particular reason other than I think the song seems to affect Brits a lot more deeply; obviously it bores some of them as well but generally that is my theory.

New? I have nearly 500 posts :p .
But seriously.. it's..divine :)

oh not you my dear! :D they got the dig... see below.

I lived in the UK for a few years, still doesn't do a thing for me.

Clearly the best post Maladjusted song together with "I Have Forgiven Jesus".

Music, it certainly does what it does but this is not a song you listen to because of the music so it should be to apparent.

10/10

Lyrics, no words needed, it has all been said.

10/10

Opinion modifier: 0.1
(10/10)+(10/10) / (2+0,1)

9,5/10

I gave a 9 but am thinking 10 now myself. Musically a change of pace and some of the best lyrics, this is one he'll be doing when he's playing to piano accompaniment in Las Vegas at age 60. This is one Dean Martin could have done, that's what I'm trying to say.

6+ for me. Lyrics are good but the music is a little boring, doesn't really do anything for me. i like some of the piano though, and he sings it well.

This song is an absolute classic. I was very disappointed he didn't play it live in 04. There is pretty much no hope for it showing up now.

I must say I found this song boring. Lyrics are good as usual, but music isn't.
I've already said that what I care about in a song is mostly the music. And no Amy, I'm not English. :)

If Morrissey started making albums that were full of this sort of music, and stopped doing the guitar rock songs, I'd be disappointed, but I think this is a great change of pace, and the music really works. It's a subtle and sensitive song and I think the music sets the mood very well, and also puts the spotlight on the lyrics and vocal performance.

10. Beautiful and affecting, no matter what nationality you are. Also, one of if not the best vocal performance of Moz' career.
