In 2007, and early 2008, we put up polls for all 234 then released Morrissey and The Smiths-songs. More than 40,000 votes were cast and this resulted in The Morrissey/Smiths Top 100, or indeed, The Morrissey/The Smiths Top 234. In 2009/2010 we updated this chart with the 25 new songs that were released in 2008-2010. The final results of 2010, the 'Top 259', can be viewed here. Now, 4 years on, many people have asked me to continue with the polls as since the last one 25 new Morrissey-songs have been released.
So we'll start with the songs that were released in 2011, 2012 and 2013 and we'll end with the 18 songs from World Peace Is None of Your Business.

So here it goes. Let's hope for as big a turn-out as in 2007 and 2010 and, once again, vote with your heart, not with your mind.

Song 280: One of Our Own (Morrissey/Gustavo Manzur)

Standing at the stone of one of our own
he died saving my life
he took the lead aimed for my head
such love shown I'd never known
Give me the gun
I love you
a job half done isn't done

Standing at the stone of one of our own
he took the plug and he hit the rug
such love shown I've never known
now I don't want to know tomorrow

So give me the gun
I love you
a job half done isn't done

Kneeling at the stone of one of our own
he took a round and he hit the ground
he took the blast, his very last
I have no use for tomorrow
no use for tomorrow
no use for tomorrow
no use for tomorrow
no use for tomorrow
no use for
no use for
no use for tomorrow
no use for tomorrow
no

I really love this song. I'm glad he appears to be playing it 'live' a fair bit. The lyrics remind me of the first verse in Bowie's SOUL LOVE.
I feel it's just shy of being a 10....so it's a 9, for me.

One of the top songs from 2014, and true a shame it wasn't on the album proper. 9.

the musics pretty awesome but i think the vocal line lets it down though the lyrics are also fantastic. they just dont seem to fit together as a whole and distract from the whole since the parts are good. ill go 5 but i thinks it being an extra track is where it belongs.

I absolutely adore this song. It's one of his best and certainly one of my favorites.

9/10
It's an outstanding song. Period. The music is incredible and I love the enigmatic story that's told in the lyrics.
I think it would have fit very well on to the album proper.

Lyrics a little too simplistic, rhyming for rhymes sake. Moz can do better.
Musically, it's a tremendous piece.
Overall a solid 8.

A solid 8, could easily have been on the proper album
