Despite Johnny hating this one, I think it's a very good song (as a cover and itself). I never understood why he hates it. I love it.

The lyrics are clever.
and
Mike can sing.

9 for me

I don't think this song is nearly as bad as its reputation suggests. The lyrics aren't bad and it's quite catchy. I'm going to surprise myself a bit by giving it a 7.

You do know that Morrissey didn't write these lyrics? If you do, then sorry for being pedantic.

Peter

Yes it's a cover of Cilla Black's I think. Yet I like the song a lot so I gave it a 10.

well in my opinion its better than cillas version. and thats basically the best you can go for in covering a song. marr's arrangement is great. not sure if i like the idea of mike singing. moz's voice is spectacular on this number. 9 (only because the boys have done more profound work)

i'd give it a 3... golden lights will always be the only song that i dislike from the smiths... this is a sub-par cover but i can live with it.

Bakers can't be choosers.

This is my #1 guilty pleasure. I love this song - I could listen to it on repeat all day. I think Morrissey's voice is great, I love the melody, it's such an uplifting ditty. Even the fact that it was part of the reason for the Smiths' split can't depress me. I must give it an 8, despite it all...

And it's very rare that I vote anything by The Smiths lower than an 8. :p But it's not especially bad or anything. Just the combination of it not being overly good and the fact that it was their last song doesn't make me very happy, haha. ;]
