How even more prescient these lyrics have grown as the years and cable TV / digital / internet news culture has become more manifest. I was cheered to see him revive this in 2007 with the "Fox News" amendment.

The presence of the ex-Smiths really enhance the value of this classic. I was also impressed with the amount of welly the Lads gave it back in 1991 and 1992. It was built to be a live song.

Speaking of, it was a fond daydream of mine in 2004 that he would come on stage in MEN Arena to the opening strains of this song brandishing a dummy tommy gun a la the cover of YATQ.
