Love the lines:
"He's happy - so leave him alone
With his Jensen Interceptor
It's just a runaround"

I always wanted a Jensen Interceptor when i was a kid.
Roger Moore's character,Lord Brett Sinclair in The Persuaders had one and HE could have been a teenage dad on HIS estate :)

One of those songs that I have really grown to like despite my initial skepticism, and part of a brillant batch of bonus tracks for the Quarry singles.

"You're a dipper, slider, cart-horse provider
Nobody cares about you
Just as long as you're out there bringing it in"

Great stuff.

It's a good b-side, but nothing special. Some of the lyrics are quite good by modern Moz standards, but there's something really clunky and unmelodic about the way he sings the title in the chorus that kinda ruins it for me. A 7.

Love it. One of the most British sounding (and Southpaw sounding) tracks of the Quarry sessions. Good lyric. About Jake, I think. You?

Speaking of this lyric, I'm pretty up on Britishisms, but "dipper, slider"? Is this some sort of blue-collar reference? "Cart-horse provider" being like a bread winner?

I always took this to mean we dress up our jobs with fancy titles but in reality we are no more than "Cart-horse providers."

I give the song an eight. Lyrically, it is one of my absolute favorites, but it seems the band phoned in the music for this song. Too bad, it could have been a classic...

I don't know for sure, but it sounds like he's revisiting Jake, who's now with child, but still living a lad's existence with his sports car. And he's off the heroin and taking his methodone like a good boy. That's my shaky theory.

I don't think Morrissey is still writing songs about Jake now so many years on...

if so he should get off the methadone too. that shit is worse to shake than heroin. be a man, take the pain, get off everything.

a 6

one of Quarry's doubtfull b-sides, I like the lyrics, but musicly its not
very impressive, so sometimes I can't bear hearing it, and sometimes
I apreciate it a lot, a doubtfull song in me book, maybe I should've
slept a night of 86 over it before I voted

Distinctly average. I cannot believe people are giving this ten. TEN!

Marvellous. Possibly the best of a fine batch of Quarry b-sides, which often get a pasting on this forum for some reason. I love this song.

7/10. Its ok......
