Beastly Little Parasite
Great stuff, indeed. A 9 from me.

"Take life at five times your average speed, like I do"

Corrissey

lovable loser
TEN!! One of my favorite Morrissey songs!!
Great tone, lyrics, music, and la la’ing at the end!! =o)

“So many women, his head should be spinning! Ah…but no…”

Comtesse

Starved Of Mirth
It's a good song, but it doesn't really speak to me. The production is great and I love the samples on it - they really add an extra dimension that's missing from the live performances. An 8.

jeniphir

Doing Very Well
I'd give 8.5, if I could. . .but since I can't, it's an 8 from me.

I Know It's Over...
I know this won't be popular but here goes:

Nearly derails the definitive Morrissey album. The weakest track on the album. A mediocre six. Granted the fact I have no freaking clue what this song is about might help to explain my position. Someone please explain! ;-)

It's always seemed quite an ironic song to me - Jim seems to have the "live fast, die young" view of life, and spends all his time chasing women. He "lives to love" (well, lust), leaping from one girl to the next. But he doesn't die young - he grows old, too old to carry on living life at "five times the average speed". He realises that by spending all his time bedding as many women as possible, he's wasted his life, he never did anything else, and he has nowhere else to go - and, I assume, no one to go to. It's a warning against that lifestyle of casual sex.

That's always been my view of it, anyway. I'm sure someone will come along in a moment with a far more interesting subtext-reading. ;)

8/10 for me, anyway.

A brilliant song, as SNS discussed yesterday why Speedway wasn't choosen
as a single, well if there's any song on vauxhall whio had a chance to rank
number 1 in the UK charts it would be this song

The whole song fits, musicly, lyricly and ecpecially the samples
it's the best and me favourite song with samples
[thanks Comtesse, didn't know the word, I wrote something else first but now
editing]

the best line is ofcourse
take life at 5 times your average speed
like i do

all I can say, 75% of Vauxhall songs can be labelled legendary classic brilliant songs.

I have to stop, need extra oxygen
and they think he's mentall

so you think 'used to be a sweet boy' and 'the lazy sunbathers' are better
than Jim?

[IMHO those 2 tracks are his weakest on Vauxhall, but still Ok, compared
to other weak tracks on his other albums]

Well I Wonder

Now, Today, Tomorrow.....
Absoluteley LOVE this song. 9/10. Vauxhall & I by far his best album.

Not Dead Yet
Not as good as most of the songs on the album...

A Solid 8...Just not in the same league as Billy Budd or Hold Onto Your Friends....

But definitely better than Lifeguard Snoozing and Lazy Sunbathers....I think I was banned when those two were rated.....

On holiday by mistake
i may be wrong but wasnt this song about a little known british 50s comedy actor called little jimmy somethingorother??? his trademark was walking really quickly i think
could easily have dreamt this so feel free to shoot me down!
i gave it a 7 by the way - i like it very much but its not really that memorable unlike many other V&I compositions.

you can go vote for them now.. thats why the links should be still active and spring-heeled is better than the two you mentioned. I like lifeguard, why do you not like it? Lazy sunbathers I agree with you.

Lazy Sunbathers hasn't been up yet, as it's THE Lazy Sunbathers officially

of course! I do that all the time, stupidly. I was looking for (The) boy racer in my ipod the other day and kept going where is it, eventually went to Southpaw grammer only to be embarrassed when I realised its THE, I am so used to just thinking as boy racer... :p

Yes, it's interesting how certain songs can do without 'The' without any problem (Boy Racer, Lazy Sunbathers, Last Of The Famous, Headmaster Ritual), where others seem to suffer without the article (Loop, Father Who Must Be Killed, Edges Are No Longer Parallel, More You Ignore Me...).

And then there's First Of The Gang To Die which often is called The First Of the Gang To Die :)
