An excellent little ditty: catchy, peppy music combined with Morrissey's characteristic funny/sad lyrics. Contains one of Morrissey's greatest lines: "And when I'm lying in my bed I think about life and I think about death and neither one particularly appeals to me." Sums it all up, doesn't it?

A solid 9.

Moz should try and make sure that all of his future songs begin with the letter 'n'.
Seems to be a guarantee of a top-notch song!:)

Doing Very Well
Need you even ask? A 10. Classic Smiths track.

I'd like to drop my trousers to the queen, every sensible child would know what this means.
A really catchy song. I can't tell about Moz solo lyrics, I haven't read them all, but in the Smiths era they were brilliant.
I thought I'd give it a 9, but I've listened to it too much and it's kind of lost something, so I gave it an 8.

It's songs like this and I Wan't The One I can't Have that make Meat Is Murder a better record the The Queen Is Dead. Not excellent and not average, but good/very good songs.

It's outstanding! One of my very favourite Smiths songs - the John Peel session is almost as good as the version on Meat Is Murder. 10.

an 8

very good song from me fav Smiths album Meat is Murder.
the lyrics are great, and the music is typical Smiths, a short, upbeat
song with that typical guitarriff from Johnny

[i should've given it a 9, but voted already]

Okay, then what IS the Weakest song on that album?

Seriously, it's funny...but Like Vicar In A Tutu...what does it really say?

ummm, why on earth would you ask me on IM and then post it on here too? i'll just copy and paste what i JUST said to you:

the song isnt silly. meat is murder is silly. with all the animal noises, musically nowhere fast is better. "and when im lying in my bed i think about life and i think about death, and neither one particularly appeals to me" as opposed to "savor the flavor of MURDERRRR. give me a break"

barbarism [only because it was by the time it came out ,already played
live for over a year, lyricly it's nothing, musicly it's OK, this song that
proved Joyce and Rourke are Smiths and not replacable sessionmusicans...
but they showed that already in the first 2 years]

i think this is worth a 9 because it shows that mr. rourke was not "as readily replaceable as the parts of a lawnmower" (and because only 'i know it's over' can get a 10).

Well I Wonder

Now, Today, Tomorrow.....

The weakest song on Meat Is Murder is easily "Meat Is Murder" with "Barbarism Begins At Home" close on its heels.
