I am definitely backing this song...

9.

Like it. I would definitely have these best things stayed behind glass.
And my life is a succession of people walking right through me.

Visiems vis tiek, o man dar labiau.

Re: The Moz/Smiths Top 100, Part 120: MY LIFE IS A SUCCESSION OF PEOPLE SAYING GOODBY

I wavered between 5 and 6 for this one, but finally went with 6. The lyrics aren't bad, really, but the whole song is just a total blah for me. Or maybe it's just that the lyrics hit a bit TOO close to home? (I am approaching 41, after all...) No, it's just really not that good of a song. Musically it's exceptionally bland. There's really not a lot to say about it... It's a b-side that sounds like a b-side.

Re: The Moz/Smiths Top 100, Part 120: MY LIFE IS A SUCCESSION OF PEOPLE SAYING GOODBY

I love this song. and it was so beautiful when he did it live when I saw him last year. 8.

Re: The Moz/Smiths Top 100, Part 120: MY LIFE IS A SUCCESSION OF PEOPLE SAYING GOODBY

Just utterly mediocre in every way. Nothing lifts this above standard b-side fare. 5

Re: The Moz/Smiths Top 100, Part 120: MY LIFE IS A SUCCESSION OF PEOPLE SAYING GOODBY

a 6

another mediocre, auto pilot song from ROTT erea, which is going to be
my least favourite Morrissey album, but I told ya'll 40 times.

Well, it's actually from the Quarry era... which is one of my least favorite Morrissey albums... but I agree, it's mediocre.

oops, well I just woke up, and have lot of things to do...but it's a mistake
I shouldn't have made, I'm all red in face:mad:

edit;
I like Quarry, but some songs from that erea are like lots of ROTT songs auto pilot
'10 -1-a pack' ones...like Quarry area song from early this week, Munich A.D. ...

''oh, you've done it now"

True but it is like that for any album and at least with Quarry there were at least two b-sides for each single as well as the album - you can't expect all of them to be pure genius (though many come very close). In my view, the songs of the Quarry era that are not quite up to scratch (though most of them still decent) are:

America is not the world
Let me kiss you
All the lazy dykes
Munich Air Disaster
My life is a succession...
Mexico
Teenage dad

while all the rest range from very good to simply brillant. 14 out of 21 is a very high score that very few albums could hope to match.

I think it is a nice little song, but nothing more ; I also know all tastes are in nature but I wonder how people who rated this 10 will rate There is light that never goes out for example

I'm with you.

Whats left for me?

Re: The Moz/Smiths Top 100, Part 120: MY LIFE IS A SUCCESSION OF PEOPLE SAYING GOODBY

I like the studio version, but live it was a bit of a "stinker".

Shocking, I think it's one of, if not the best song on You Are The Quarry.

Re: The Moz/Smiths Top 100, Part 120: MY LIFE IS A SUCCESSION OF PEOPLE SAYING GOODBY

I'm giving it an 8/10. I really like this song. The harp sounds great in it too. He played it live when I saw him in Killarney last year. Top stuff.

Re: The Moz/Smiths Top 100, Part 120: MY LIFE IS A SUCCESSION OF PEOPLE SAYING GOODBY

I like this song. It is beautiful and slightly disturbing -- whaddya mean all the best things in life are behind glass -- flesh!?

But I think the live version actually made it sound blah. The tempo dragged, and it seemed like either the band wasn't into it or the arrangement for the live band was just bad.

Re: The Moz/Smiths Top 100, Part 120: MY LIFE IS A SUCCESSION OF PEOPLE SAYING GOODBY

6/10. not a work of art but not garbage either. seen him do it live and that's around the same score:(the instrumental at the end is the highlight for me;)

Re: The Moz/Smiths Top 100, Part 120: MY LIFE IS A SUCCESSION OF PEOPLE SAYING GOODBY

This song is truly wonderful.
I loved it immediately.
The music is unusually brilliant. It reminds me of some Muse melodies.
It's one of my favourites.

And what's left for me?
