A ten. He sings it like a lovesong to the people of Britain,
encouraging them in a way that is rubbing the message gently in.

Strangely gentle and optimistic, encouraging to stand up and do sth.

Not necessarily assassinating.

Even though I recall that Moz , asked about his response if somebody killed her, said he'd marry them.
Some of us might be going far for such a prize ...

Since she still lives, audience and Moz seem to agree that
the "hate" in the song is not that bloodthirsty serious and she can sleep safe and soundly.

I like the twanging sound very much, it reminds me of the nagging feeling when I am not doing/procastinating the thing that should be said/done .

A gentle lovesong to the listener

I don't know if this has been mentioned but if Morrissey plays a new song live then will that be included in this poll or is it just recorded songs?

It is all 232 officially released Morrissey/Smiths-songs first, but there is room to do the unreleased stuff too (Striptease, Honey, Oh phoney et al) at the end.

I'm not sure about the new songs as it's not really fair to compare rough recordings of songs to full studio/good live (Cosmic Dancer/Redondo) versions.
