While we wait for the new album to arrive, let us go about rating the songs we know, on a daily basis, and compile our own Morrissey/Smiths Top 100.

And instead of chronologically, let's do them alphabetically.

Song for Today: ANGEL ANGEL DOWN WE GO TOGETHER

Voting should be something along these lines:
10: Classic
9: Near classic, f***ing brilliant anyway
8: Really good Moz/Smiths song
7: Good Moz/Smiths song
6: Decent, OK, Nothing special
5: Uninspired
4: Poor
3: Bad
2: Should never have been released
1: He/They should be ashamed

Gave it a 10. Beautiful strings, great lyrics, and Moz's greatest early vocal performance in my opinion.

Great series of threads, Houdini :).

i see bikie voted 7
which is too low for somebody as cool as her :o

It's impossible to vote all songs 9 or 10.
Although I like the idea of Top 100, I don't vote because I can't rate songs. :p

This is one of the best tracks of Viva Hate.

ive always felt this to be an extremely overrated track. it's so overthetop, any genuine emotion that was behind is swept away in a laughable flood of strings and repeated, embarassing phrases like "I love you more than life!"

This is probably my number 1 song.
It's an odd choice for a number 1 favorite, but it catches me in just the right way. Never, ever got sick of listening to it. Still get the chills from the 1st, "don't take your life...pause..tonight"
I think it's the pause that I like so much
weird.

A beautiful, beautiful song. However, unlike most, I hated the Kill Uncle live versions of it. It felt like they took a fragile, beautiful thing and slapped it into submission. However, an acoustic version of this song would be awesome!

This song has saved my life more than once.
The fact that it's about Johnny Marr just makes it even greater.
A masterpiece.
