While we wait for the new album to arrive, let us go about rating the songs we know, on a daily basis, and compile our own Morrissey/Smiths Top 100.

And instead of chronologically, let's do them alphabetically.

Voting should be something along these lines:
10: Classic
9: Near classic, fucking brilliant anyway
8: Really good Moz/Smiths song
7: Good Moz/Smiths song
6: Decent, OK, Nothing special
5: Uninspired
4: Poor
3: Bad
2: Should never have been released
1: He/They should be ashamed

The top-10 so far (voting will remain open, click to vote):

1) A Rush And A Push And The Land Is Ours, rating so far: 8,78
2) Alsatian Cousin, rating: 8,28
3) A Swallow On My Neck, rating: 7,90
4) Alma Matters, rating: 7,63
5) Accept Yourself, rating: 7,25
6) A Song From Under The Floorboards, rating: 7,16
7) Ambitious Outsiders, rating: 6,74
8) America Is Not The World, rating: 6,54
9) Ammunition, rating 6,42
10) All The Lazy Dykes, rating: 6,26

Gave it a 10. Beautiful strings, great lyrics, and Moz's greatest early vocal performance in my opinion.

Great series of threads, Houdini :).

i see bikie voted 7
which is too low for somebody as cool as her :o
It's impossible to vote all songs 9 or 10.
Although I like the idea of Top 100, I don't vote because I can't rate songs. :p

This is one of the best tracks of Viva Hate.

Boycott Moz

ive always felt this to be an extremely overrated track. it's so overthetop, any genuine emotion that was behind is swept away in a laughable flood of strings and repeated, embarassing phrases like "I love you more than life!"

This is probably my number 1 song.
It's an odd choice for a number 1 favorite, but it catches me in just the right way. Never, ever got sick of listening to it. Still get the chills from the 1st, "don't take your life...pause..tonight"
I think it's the pause that I like so much

Starved Of Mirth
A beautiful, beautiful song. However, unlike most, I hated the Kill Uncle live versions of it. It felt like they took a fragile, beautiful thing and slapped it into submission. However, an acoustic version of this song would be awesome!

from the Ice Age to the dole age
This song has saved my life more than once.
The fact that it's about Johnny Marr just makes it even greater.
A masterpiece.
