Darklands was the last CD I bought a couple of days ago, I got Psychocandy quite a few years ago, and that remains quite glorious.

Pschocandy is one of the defining albums of the 80s.
Sowing Seeds, Just Like Honey, You Trip Me Up - all majestic.

Re: That Petrol Emotion are way better

You have a thing about Irish bands, don't you?
Cheers for the Microdisney stuff by the way, it's superb.

I still have Big Decision, and Genius Move, and ISTR we had a laugh a the 1in12 one night by phoning Steve Mack and winding him up....oh what jolly times.

I have virtually everything by the Mary Chain. Good band! All of their albums are cool. Each one has kind of a different feel.

The only worthwhile release (that I know of) that I don't have yet is the album of BBC recordings. Recently discovered that that exists when I went to a far-away store that carries it, but I ended up buying other stuff instead (they had a CD compiling songs by The Nips and the Nipple Erectors - Shane MacGowan's pre-Pogues bands, so I got that instead).

Aye. Only last week I dug out "Honey's Dead" to play in the car to and from work. The thing about the Mary Chain is that they had the knack of writing a good tune. If you've got that skill, you really can't go wrong. I often play the "Sound of Speed" compilation album too, as it's packed with great songs.

Top fella that Steve Mack, well he is a big Ruts fan afterall.

Glad you like the Microdisney tapes, 'Everybody is fantastic' is one of my all time favourites.

Ah yes I am partial to the Irish bands, a load of Thin Lizzy tonight I reckon.

I find them rather boring.

For sure. My record player's bung, and I was getting so desparate I had to purchase PsychoCandy on CD.

Then again, I suppose I could have got by machine fixed.

Logic is not a strong suit right at present.

I've been listening to 21 Singles lately.

Thanks to one of my other Moz-Solo buddies for getting me into them. You know who you are.

And Bore, glad to see our tastes continue to coincide.

You mean you've changed your mind about Gwynneth Paltrow?????

And in celebration of today's Australia-US free-trade agreement, I relent and will allow you to send me those MP3's.

BUT, please don't do so until Friday, as I have to dial in long-distance at the moment.

PS. Damn your pathetic inefficient sugar-farmers seeking only to rip off US consumers and demand handouts from your taxpayers!

PPS - isn't it time you were in bed????

Obvioulsy, in true Mark n Lard fashion, "seminal indie 80's icon JAMC will never be ignored".. I own 21 Singles among some other things, never owning Psycho candy but having it on tape somewhere in the loft! And as a tribute, my band covers 'Head on'.

..but where a great opportunity for their music to really shine is in the film 'Lost In Translation'.. 'Just Like Honey' plays in the films climactic outro.. wonderful moment.

And romance isn't dead!

How is "Lost in translation"?. I was thinking about buying the DVD, make some popcorn, sit on the sofa and watch it with a certain someone.

Well, Young Devil, it's a good story, albeit slightly long. Murray is excellent in his laconic way, and the female lead plays a part most convincingly. The film is well shot, using lots of drive by camera shots of Tokyo.. but sometimes leans on 'humour' of the mind bogggling Anglo/japanese language barrier. the tale is told as a man struggling with happiness and disenchantment in his life, discovers what he desires in a foreign world. And it's romantic.. And i came out clicking me heels!! Well, something was clicking!

I have a space on my sofa.. only a two seater though, so we may have to touch knee's.. as I crudely fashion a whole in the bottom of the popcorn box sitting on my innocent lap, in true 'Porkies' style!

If I am that lucky someone of course!!

Your tongue against your cheek?
So did Murray find happiness and enchantment in the end. I hope so, I like happy endings.

sitting on your love seat touching knees? I don't go that far on a first date so maybe we should watch it at my house.

AHHH, Not knowing the ending is as painful for me as seeing presents under the tree, and its not Christmas yet or even worse, waiting to get a really great package in the mail.
Can I rephrase the question? Is it worth the $15.00 to buy it or should I spend $4 to rent it?

Full Stockings, large packets?? Does being extra good this year mean that Santa leaves an extra large packet?
Rent it? HMMM, you mentioned before LIT is slow moving, is that why your saying to rent it OR is it because its a bad ending.....Your not going to budge and tell me about the ending are you?
